The 10th IAAF World Junior Championships in Grosseto which get underway tomorrow and last until Sunday 18 July will be the biggest ever in terms of participation figures as 1429 athletes representing 181 countries will be competing in Grosseto.
Previously, the best edition of the championships in terms of participating nations was Annecy 1998 when 170 countries and 1184 athletes took part in the competition.
In Grosseto, the biggest delegation will be Team USA with 101 athletes – 51 men and 50 women – followed by Germany with 79 athletes (39 men and 40 women), Russia with 69 athletes (33 men and 36 women), France with 51 athletes (25 men and 26 women) and the host country Italy with 51 athletes (22 men and 29 women).
