The athletics track at the ERGO Arena, the venue for the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the Polish city of Sopot, was officially opened on Sunday (16) and almost 6000 people flocked to the stadium to get a glimpse of where the most important athletics event of the year will take place.
Damian Warner and Hanna Melnychecnko emerged as the winners of the 37th Decastar meeting in the French town of Talence, and for the latter there was double joy as she also took first place in the 2013 IAAF Combined Events Challenge on Sunday (15).
It could not have been closer, it could not have been more dramatic, but the smile on the face of the French athletes told its own story in Tallinn on Sunday afternoon (30) at the European Cup Combined Events, part of the IAAF Combined Events Challenge.
France’s Kevin Mayer and Ukraine’s Hanna Melnychenko are the individual leaders after the first day of the European Cup Combined Events Super League in Tallinn on Saturday (29), which is part of the IAAF Combined Events Challenge.
The IAAF Combined Events Challenge will this weekend (29-30) be integrated into the European Cup Combined Events and exciting contests are in store in all three divisions.
Ukraine’s Hanna Melnychenko moved to the top of this year’s season lists at the TNT Express Meeting in Kladno, the Czech leg of the IAAF Combined Events Challenge, while Andrei Krauchanka of Belarus won his second Decathlon of the 2013 series.
Belarus’ Andrei Krauchanka held a 127 point lead over his main rival, Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Karpov, with a score of 4307 points in the Decathlon after the end of the first day of TNT Express meeting in the Czech town of Kladno, part of the IAAF Combined Events Challenge, on Saturday.
Both of last year winners are back in the Czech town of Kladno for the TNT Express Meeting, an IAAF Combined Events Challenge event, but Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Karpov and home crowd favorite Eliska Klucinova will not have easy tasks to retain their titles this weekend (8-9).
