Organisers of the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix have announced that three world champions – Gudaf Tsegay, Grant Holloway and Marco Arop – will compete at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting on 4 February.
Returning to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix for the first time since 2018, Tsegay headlines the women’s 1500m. The Ethiopian has been one of the sport’s most successful and versatile athletes in recent seasons. She has won world titles at 1500m indoors, as well as 5000m and 10,000m outdoors. She also holds world records for 1500m indoors and 5000m outdoors.
Holloway leads a strong 60m hurdles field in Boston and will be aiming for his third consecutive victory at this meeting. The three-time world 110m hurdles champion has been undefeated indoors for almost 10 years – a winning streak that dates back to his high school career. The world indoor record-holder will face strong opposition in Boston in world bronze medallist Daniel Roberts and 2022 world silver medallist Trey Cunningham.
Arop will be making his third appearance at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. The Canadian won the world 800m title in Budapest earlier this year, adding to the bronze medal he won at the 2022 World Championships. In Boston, Arop will take on world indoor champion Mariano Garcia of Spain and USA’s world indoor bronze medallist Bryce Hoppel.
These top athletes join the previously announced Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas and Jake Wightman.
