CECS Level II is designed for coaches seeking to advance their knowledge and specialise in coaching junior athletes, primarily in the U18 and U20 age classes.
The programme equips coaches to take juniors from teens' training to junior training and competition relevant to U20 athletics. It focuses on an event group-specific specialisation (Sprints, Middle-long distances, Throws, Jumps and Combined Events), emphasising practical coaching skills while providing a solid theoretical foundation. Coaches deepen their knowledge of applied scientific concepts, principles of training and advanced technical models. Periodisation for the U20 age class, microcycle planning, and competition preparation are complementing the content. The core of Level II is a 6-day onsite course with practical sessions, coaching demonstrations, workshops, and discussions. Prior to the onsite course, coaches complete 10 online modules. Upon successful completion, coaches receive the World Athletics CECS Level II Certificate.
The CECS Level II is organised by Area Associations and Member Federations with support from World Athletics.
