Level I

CECS Level I is a programme designed for individuals interested in athletics coaching. It trains qualified youth coaches to work with teens, typically in the U16 age class, serving as a bridge between Kids' Athletics and 'real' athletics. The syllabus covers all event groups and emphasises practical coaching skills, providing a solid theoretical foundation. Participants learn fundamental scientific concepts, training principles, and coaching techniques for various events.

The training is delivered through online modules at one's own pace, with 30 mandatory modules, including the Safeguarding Essentials course, which is a compulsory part of the online section. Completing the programme with a minimum of 15 hours of practical experience, either during a workshop or under the guidance of your National Athletics Federation, leads to the World Athletics CECS Level I Certificate.
