Did you know that over 200 nations across 6 continents have athletics delegations recognized by World Athletics?

Over 2,000 athletes representing these 200+ nations will come to Eugene, Oregon in the United States for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, as well as spectators and fans, officials, and media members from all over the world. Throughout the United States and Oregon 2022 is a special moment for not only the biggest track fans but each of us who call this place home…it’s time to welcome the world to our home!  

Look for Global Explorations Content Track activities in the Making Tracks Activity Library to explore the global scale of the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 and the global diversity of the sport of track and field. Find activity ideas incorporating geography, history, and cultural explorations. 

ART & CULTURE

What does it take to build a brand for a global sporting event and create art that can come to life in all aspects of the event experience from the buying your tickets to feeling the glory in stadium during the competition? How is a global sporting event like the World Athletics Championships broadcast and shared with fans around the world through many different forms of media? What kind of unique stories do the athletes who have made it to the world stage of the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 have to tell? What stories in sport inspire us and how do we tell those stories? 

Look for Arts & Culture Content Track activities in the Making Tracks Activity Library to engage with track and field, the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, and the global diversity of the sport through cultural explorations, language arts, visual and media arts, or performing arts. Find activity ideas incorporating a variety of levels of reading comprehension, research, writing, and art creation skills.

What do science and math have to do with the world’s best track and field performances?

From catapulting out of the starting blocks, to launching off a long jump runway, to preparing to hurl a hammer, concepts of physics and physiology are at the center of the action at any track and field meet and guide athletes in training to improve to be their best. In a sport where just a hundredth of a second or a centimeter can make all the difference, math minds can get active exploring our sport’s statistics. Maybe you don’t want to run a marathon, but you still might be amazed by the technology used to time the world’s fastest marathons! 
 
Look for STEM Content Track activities in the Making Tracks Activity Library to explore the sport of track and field and the World Athletics Championships Oregon 22 with science, math, technology, and engineering. 

CAREER EXPLORATION

Did you know that it takes thousands of employees and volunteers working together behind the scenes to present the World Athletics Championships?

Project management, marketing, finance, technology, security, medical, media, and many more industries are all a part of making the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 happen.   

Look for Career Exploration Content Track activities in the Making Tracks Activity Library to explore the variety of careers involved in planning and putting on the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. 

Coming in 2022, this content track will also include a career exploration module designed for high school age students including virtual event opportunities! 

HEALTHY & ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

Get inspired to move and have fun doing it! If you can run, jump, or throw you can participate in the sport of track and field. Coming in 2022, the Making Tracks healthy and active lifestyles content track will share resources to help you try the sport of track and field with or without access to a track, opportunities to find all-comer’s youth track and field meets near you, classroom campaigns and contests to get moving together, and more.
