10 days, 49 events, over 200 nations. This is the biggest sporting event to take place in the United States in 2022! The best track &amp; field athletes in the world will come together in a celebration of diversity, human potential, and athletic achievement. This extraordinary showcase will take center stage in the heart and home of the sport of track and field in the U.S: in Oregon, in Eugene, in Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The sport of track &amp; field (athletics) is one of the longest standing sports in human history. Based in the fundamentals of running, jumping, and throwing, it&rsquo;s a sport made up of people of all different shapes, sizes, and strengths. Athletes of every gender, race, orientation, and background come together to perform on one field of play. The diversity of the sport is due in large part to the relative ease of accessing it. A pair of shoes. An open road, a path or pitch. A ring, a rock, or runway &ndash; there are many ways for a curious kid to discover their passion for track &amp; field. While gold medals and world records may be the sport&rsquo;s most prestigious awards, any track and field athlete at any level knows the glory in the feeling of a new &ldquo;personal best&rdquo; time or mark in their event. Each incredible World Athletics Championships competitor has a unique story to tell about their journey to the world stage, but they all share a simple common pursuit- embracing the challenge of what it means to find your best.&nbsp;

The World Athletics Championships have been held 17 times since 1982, but never before in the U.S.A! Oregon22 is a chance to be a part of history for every student in Oregon and the United States. Making Tracks is a youth engagement program designed for K-12&nbsp;students that invites all youth to be a part of the history, the cultural diversity, the global unity, and the sheer excitement of the world coming to Oregon for the World Athletics Championships!&nbsp;Here educators, youth program leaders, and families can find a collection of informative resources, lesson plan ideas, and activities that use a variety of subject areas to investigate the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 with youth. The World Wide Welcome Youth Relay also invites youth groups across the USA to help us welcome the world to Oregon!
