World Athletics, through the World Academy for Endurance Medicine, took proactive measures by training some of the medical staff for Paris 2024 - as mentioned in a previous post.
Additionally, heat decks were implemented for all track and field events involving distances over 5,000 meters.

Fortunately, despite these concerns, we only encountered three cases of exertional heat stroke. As the WBGT temperature records below indicate, the conditions were relatively mild, and the timing of the events was appropriate.

Interestingly, despite the endurance events being scheduled for earlier in the day, all three heat stroke incidents occurred on the first and last days of the athletics competitions, which were the hottest days during the 'Athletics' period.

A big thank you to the Paris 2024 medical staff and volunteers for providing excellent medical services to our athletes throughout the Games.
