We highly encourage sustainable and active modes of transportation (walking, biking, and riding the public bus) when traveling to and from the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, and encourage you to arrive early for all sessions. As outlined below, each of the three fan entry gates open 90 minutes prior to the publicized session start time, and the pre-show will begin 30 minutes prior to the start of competition.
Legend the Bigfoot says use your feet!
If you are staying in Eugene, walking to Hayward Field is always the most sustainable option. Walking will put you in the heart of the city and allow you to stop easily to pick up food or drinks.
Eugene is proudly one of the bike-friendliest cities in the U.S. and biking is likely to be the fastest way to travel during the World Athletics Championships.
Free Bike Valet
There will be two free bike+ valets for the event, one on the north side of Hayward Field and one on the south side of Hayward Field. Bike+ valet locations can be seen here.
The bike+ valet will operate on competition days only. They will follow the same schedule as the main fan gates, opening each day 90 minutes before the beginning of the first session and closing 60 minutes post-competition for the last session. See gate schedule opening times here for operational hours for bike+ valet. Bikes can be kept in the bike valet between sessions when there are two sessions on a given day. If a bicycle is not retrieved at the end of each day, it will be safely moved to the University of Oregon Police Department Lost and Found on-campus station to be retrieved by its owner.
Using Bike Share
PeaceHealth Rides is a network of bike share stations and rentable bicycles. These bicycles are available for self-service rental from hubs throughout Eugene, many of which are adjacent to free parking (i.e. Valley River Center). Bike share works best for one-way trips across the city - just lock your blue bike up to the nearest hub or rack at your destination. Download the PeaceHealth Rides app to get started - iOS here and Google Play here. More information at peacehealthrides.com.
See here for more resources on biking while in town for WCH Oregon22.
Taking the bus is a quick and easy option for getting around town thanks to the Lane Transit District (LTD). Take the Emerald Express (often called “the EmX” locally) across the city of Eugene and back and forth to the nearby city of Springfield. When you use it to get to Hayward Field, step off the bus at Agate Street (intersection of Agate Street and Franklin Boulevard), which is just outside of the venue’s Fan Entry Gate B. The EmX runs every 15 minutes, offers raised platforms for easy boarding, and is Free for those with proof of that day's World Championships mobile ticket, as well as individuals with official accreditation for the Championships.
For more information on specific routes and service times, check the LTD EmX website here.
To learn more about public transportation options in the area, visit the LTD homepage here.
Coming from Portland or Salem? See daily round trip shuttle opportunities here.
The Free fan park and ride shuttle will operate continuously from the Valley River Center - rear parking lot (293 Valley River Center, Eugene) starting two hours prior to every competition session at Hayward Field. Follow signs to parking near the Willamette Riverbank path. Estimated travel time via shuttle from Valley River Center to venue is 15 minutes. Shuttles returning to Valley River Center from Hayward Field will stop running one hour after the conclusion of each competition session.
Reminder: Before boarding the shuttle, make sure you are compliant with the stadium clear bag policy and that you have your personal reusable empty water bottle.
Uber, Lyft and local taxis are available for those attending the World Athletics Championships. Uber, Lyft and taxis have been recommended to coordinate drop-offs and pick-ups at a WCH Oregon22 managed parking lot at the corner of Millrace and Riverfront streets, north of Hayward Field, within walking distance of the venue.
While we strongly encourage people to use alternate forms of transportation, for those who choose to drive, there will be parking garage options at the 13th Avenue Garage (1720 E. 13th Ave.), and the Millrace Garage (1650 Millrace Drive).
Those who park at the 13th Avenue Garage can do so for $35 per session but are limited to parking there for evening sessions only. Those who park at the Millrace Garage can do so for $25 per session, with this garage available for both morning and evening sessions. Parking at this location can be reserved in advance here.
Parking at Autzen Stadium and then walking or biking to Hayward Field is only available from Tuesday, July 19 through Sunday, July 24 (due to the staging of the Championships Marathons) and is $10 per session for morning or evening sessions. Parking at this location can be reserved in advance here.
$25 Per Day Parking in Temporary Event Parking District (South of Hayward Field)
Daily Event Parking Permits are available for purchase online and allow you to park in the City of Eugene's Event Parking District between Wednesday, July 13 and Sunday, July 24. The District is located south of Hayward Field. Proceeds from the Daily Event Parking Permits will go towards a project in the neighborhood park. For more information, a map of the district, and to purchase your permit, click here: www.EugeneParking.com.
No earlier than 2 hours prior to the start of competition, you will be able to approach the intersection of 13th and Franklin with your blue ADA parking pass visible in the dash or with an ADA license plate. The event’s ADA Parking Lot is further along on 13th (Columbia and 13th, University of Oregon Parking Lot 37) where staff at that checkpoint will confirm your blue ADA parking pass or ADA license plate and instruct where to park in this lot. This lot has limited capacity and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. From the ADA Parking lot, a golf cart will be available to assist in transporting fans to Gate B. Once through security, fans can request a wheel chair to provide additional support in getting to their dedicated seats.
Under current health guidelines, fans do NOT need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result and are NOT required to wear masks in outdoor sporting events, including those held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
We support vaccination as a safe choice. Our entire staff of workforce and volunteers, as well as all participants, will be vaccinated. Masking is optional. People should monitor and be responsible for their own health. If you are feeling sick (fever, cough, etc.), we ask you to consider if it is wise to attend a mass gathering such as a sporting event.
We are committed to following all local and state guidelines for health and safety-related protocols regarding COVID-19, as well as policies and procedures from the sport’s international governing body, World Athletics. As these guidelines are subject to change, we encourage fans to monitor those protocols in preparation for the event, and to assume the COVID-19 landscape may continue to impact entry requirements for events.
We cannot wait to welcome you to Hayward Field at the University of Oregon! Please note that this event is a mobile-ticketed only event. A mobile ticket is a convenient and flexible way to receive and manage tickets, while increasing protection against paper ticket fraud. It allows a quick and easy way into Hayward Field for you and your entire party while eliminating paper waste. Tickets are still available for the event here.
For helpful hints on how to access or transfer your mobile tickets, see our mobile ticket guide here. Before leaving home, please make sure to download your mobile tickets to your Apple wallet (iPhone users) or Google play (for all others). You can also access your mobile tickets on our WCH Oregon22 app, available on all app stores. If you do not have a smart phone, please give our ticket resolution office a call at +1 (541) 346-4461.
On the days prior to competition, fans can visit the ticket resolution desk located at the Moshofsky Center at Autzen Stadium complex, where support staff will always be available to assist in-person 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
On competition days (July 15–24), a dedicated ticket resolution office will be located at Matthew Knight Arena at the corner of 13th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard, 3 blocks north of Fan Entry Gate B at Hayward Field. Support staff at this location will be able to assist fans prior to entering the venue. For any issues once inside the security gates, fans can find the ticket resolution window on Agate Street, where support staff will be available to assist mid-session.

Once someone enters through fan entrances into the venue, they cannot re-enter the ticketed perimeter during that session should they leave.
To enhance public safety and make the Hayward Field venue access more efficient, the University of Oregon’s clear-bag policy will be in effect. Each person may bring in one (1) clear bag, no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches or a 1-gallon plastic storage bag. Tickets holders are limited to one clear bag per person along with a small clutch or purse (4 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches) for privacy. Bags, backpacks, purses, diaper bags, and other carry-in containers that don’t meet the clear-bag policies specifically stated here are prohibited.
We encourage everyone coming to Hayward Field to bring personal refillable water bottles to the event. There are no size or material restrictions for individual water bottles. As part of the event’s sustainability initiatives, no single-use plastic water bottles will be sold at the event. Free water refilling stations will be available throughout Hayward Field. For those who forget refillable water bottles, they will be available for purchase at on-site merchandise locations.
To ensure everyone has a safe and pleasurable experience at the event, the following items are not allowed to be taken into Hayward Field:
If requested by the authorities, all persons shall be required to cooperate by providing evidence of identity, submitting to inspections of personal belongings, and consenting to security searches and/or screenings whether by walk-through, metal detector, hand-held metal detector, bag checks or otherwise. Prohibited items detected will be confiscated by security. Fans who need to bring in items for medical reasons will be able to do so after a security check.
The Local Organizing Committee for World Athletics Championships Oregon22 is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all in attendance. To maintain this celebratory environment, we ask that fans refrain from the following behavior:
*Failure to comply with the Fan Code of Conduct will result in removal from the venue.
As the local organizing committee (LOC), WCH Oregon22 has the responsibility to help protect the commercial and marketing rights of those Commercial Affiliates who have been granted and assigned the official right to associate themselves with the event. These guidelines are being supplied so the LOC can assist in protecting these essential rights for all the Commercial Affiliates. To view the full Rights Protection Guidelines click here.
With your help, we can ensure that WCH Oregon22 can continue to have a stage worthy of champions. To report a Rights Protection Incident, submit the form found in Appendix 5 (Reporting E-mail Template) and contact WCH Oregon22 at: rightsprotection@worldchampsoregon22.com.
Should any questions or concerns arise regarding these guidelines, please feel free to contact the LOC at: rightsprotection@worldchampsoregon22.com.
Fans will be able to choose from a wide variety of food and drink options featuring fare from all around the world. Locally sourced, organic, vegetarian, and vegan food and drink options will be available for purchase both on the concourse level and on Agate Street adjacent to the venue (inside the secure perimeter). In addition, download the WCH Oregon22 event App for updated menus and in-seat ordering potential.
Please note that concessions on the concourse will only be accepting credit/debit card. However, concessions on Agate Street will accept both cash and credit/debit cards.
Be seen in WCH Oregon22 gear! A wide range of official World Athletics Championships Oregon22 merchandise will be available at three locations at Hayward Field, noted on the Venue Map (link to venue map above).
Official Championships merchandise is available for purchase online at the World Athletics Shop. Merchandise is also available at all The Duck Store locations and online, as well as at Eugene Running Company and Run Hub Northwest.
For ticket-holders, visit our official partner booths on Agate Street to learn more about the partners that make the event possible. TDK, Asics, Seiko, Travel Oregon, University of Oregon, PeaceHealth and Rise to Win will all have activations for the duration of the event.
For more information about the official event partners of the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, click here.
Inside the venue, fans will be able find two fan service booths, three merchandise booths and one first aid station operating for the duration of the event.
Make sure to stop by the Making Tracks Youth Engagement and Education space located on the southern concourse of Hayward Field. Open every session, this space will provide fun activities and learning opportunities for kids of all ages!
For any lactation needs during the Championships, we recommend going to the Fan Service booth on the south concourse of Hayward Field (Section 117). They have a private seated medical space behind their room that you can access.
As noted in our Prohibited Items section, fans who need to bring in items for medical reasons will be able to do so after a security check. This includes pumping equipment, as well as coolers for storing milk.
From an environmental sustainability standpoint, WCH Oregon22 is focusing on materials management, a strategy that looks at the lifecycle impacts of materials. This includes reducing toxic materials, reducing the number of materials, ensuring materials can be reused, and ensuring that what cannot be reused is recycled.
The LOC will be launching a “Bring Your Own Water Bottle” campaign during the event. Fans, media, coaches, volunteers, and athletes are encouraged to bring their own empty water bottles and fill up at one of the many water stations that will be positioned around Hayward Field. There will be no restrictions on the size or dimensions of personal reusable bottles that people can bring into the stadium. In a significant effort to reduce the plastic waste associated with the World Championships, no single-use plastic water bottles will be sold inside the stadium.
The decision not to sell plastic water bottles in the stadium represents an unprecedented but necessary shift from previous large-scale sporting events.
Additionally, the LOC is working to minimize the impacts of transportation related to the operations of the event in several ways. Fans and participants will be encouraged to use alternative and active modes of transportation to get to the event, including walking and riding bicycles. Bike valets will be available as part of the event.
Oregon’s commitment to sustainability by local and statewide communities and organizations across all sectors created a foundation to support this vision, and it is through the collaborative work of sustainability experts and event operations specialists that this dedicated effort has been possible.
