When Copenhagen hosts the World Athletics Road Running Championships – WRRC Copenhagen 26 – on September 19-20, the organisers wish to include as many spectators as possible and showcase the incredible international hub that Copenhagen is.
Runners and spectators from more than 149 nations are coming together for the World Championships, and we want the city to look and feel as international as the start line.
That's why we are inviting all international citizens in Copenhagen to create their own cheering zones along the course. We hope to see a lot of nationalities represented in the crowds in authentic international cheering zones spread throughout the city – each with their own national focus.

You've travelled from abroad to race in the World Championships, you're running in the streets of Copenhagen for the first time and maybe you're feeling a little bit overwhelmed by the distance, but then you spot some people cheering from the sidelines and they're cheering in your native language. As you get closer, the cheering gets louder, your confidence builds, and suddenly the finish line seems much easier to reach.

Come and show your support
We encourage international communities, associations, clubs, student groups, and networks in Copenhagen to create unique cheering zones that represent their individual nationality and culture. Here's how to do it:
1. Choose a spot on the course
2. Bring things that help to show your nationality
3. Get your cheer on
1. Choose your spot
Choose a location along the course that means something to your community. It could be near a restaurant representing your national cuisine, a cultural landmark that holds meaning for you, or simply a street where your community already feels at home. See the courses here:

2. Show us your nationality
Bring your flags, national team jerseys, hats, scarves, national colours, traditional clothing, homemade signs – anything you already have at home that helps to showcase your nationality and culture and create an amazing atmosphere.
3. Get your cheer on!
Think of the famous Dutch Corner on Alpe d'Huez during the Tour de France. A place where supporters gather, celebrate together, and create an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike. Here are some examples of what you could do:
· Make your own signs
· Play music from your country
· Cheer on the runners in your own language

If you are a group of people arranging to cheer at the event together, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch with Frederikke from the organising partners at fror@sparta.dk and let us know where you plan to gather. That way we can help spread the word about your cheering zone to locals and travelling supporters, so more people can join you on race day.
Together, let's turn Copenhagen into a global celebration of running and create the most amazing cheering experience ever seen at a road running world championships.
