Backward Overhead Throw

Aim: To practise an overhead backward throw with a medicine ball for distance.

In this activity, participants with their back towards the foul line, squat and quickly extend their legs with the ball held at arms length with both hands. They then heave the ball backward over their head and towards the throwing area.

Participants should remember to keep both arms extended at all time and extend their legs with an active push off during release of the throwing object.
