1. Transfer your bib to someone you've made an agreement with You can sell your bib to someone you know. All you need is their email address. The buyer will then receive an email from us with instructions on how to pay and take over the bib.&nbsp;
2. Resell your bib through our Waiting Pool You can also put your race number up for sale through the Waiting Pool, which is a list of people interested in buying a WRRC Copenhagen 26 bib. The bib will then be offered to a random person in the Waiting Pool, who has 24 hours to complete the purchase.&nbsp;
Be aware that you cannot withdraw the bib from the Waiting &lt;pool once you have decided to put it up for sale. Even if it is not purchased by someone else.

If you are part of a team registration:
It is possible to sell individual bibs from a team registration. Be aware, the team captain, who originally made the payment, will be the one to receive the refund if or when the bib is sold to a buyer.&nbsp;

Ahead of the conference, participants are invited to join an official reception at Copenhagen City Hall on 17th September, followed by exclusive, thematic workshops that will set the scene for the discussions during the conference on 18th September. Together, these two days create a complete conference experience at the heart of an international championship setting.&nbsp;

Ahead of WRRC Copenhagen 26, World Athletics and Danish Athletics are inviting national and international stakeholders to a Global Running Conference in Copenhagen on 17-18 September.

Global Running Conference 2026

World Athletics has made the exceptional decision to allow additional female USA Track and Field (USATF) athletes to run at the 2026 World Road Running Championships (WRRC) following the extraordinary nature of an incident at the recent USATF Half-Marathon Championships that acted as a qualifier for the upcoming event in Copenhagen.
World Athletics has agreed on a strictly one-off basis that USATF will be able to select seven athletes rather than the usual four athletes for the women&rsquo;s half marathon event at the WRRC in September.
An extraordinary set of circumstances at the half marathon championships in Atlanta, Georgia, culminated in the breakaway lead pack of three athletes in the women&rsquo;s race (Jess McClain, Emma Grace Hurley, Ednah Kurgat) being led off course and finishing outside of the automatic qualifying positions.
In working to find a solution, World Athletics has been sympathetic to the impacted athletes who would otherwise miss out on competing at the WRRC Copenhagen 2026, and understanding of the unprecedented situation USATF &ndash; one our leading Member Federations &ndash; has found itself in.
USATF will select their four fastest athletes to be their scoring athletes, while non-scoring athletes (meaning they cannot win medals, receive prize money, nor count towards the team result &ndash; but will receive world ranking points based on their final finishing position) will take the three additional places. The three non-scoring athletes will wear USA national kit but of a different style to the four scoring athletes.

Volunteers will be at the heart of the event, helping shape the experience for elite athletes and thousands of participants fro around the globe. From guiding runners along the course to creating energy at hydration stations and welcoming finishers, every role contributes to a world-class atmosphere.&nbsp;
Clubs and associations can also join the action. As a helper club, you will be a visible and important part of the event. You'll stand together taking on key roles and experience the atmosphere up close - all while earning financial support for your club. It is an opportunity to strengthen community ties while playing a visible role in a global championship.

When the World Championships in the half marathon, 5K, and One Mile come to Copenhagen in September, it&rsquo;s not just about elite athletes and medals. The partners behind the championship are now launching an activation initiative with the ambition of getting more Danes &ndash; including vulnerable citizens &ndash; out running before, during, and after the World Championships. The aim is for the World Championships to be felt long before race days and to leave a lasting impact that goes beyond the event itself. That&rsquo;s why the partners behind the championship are launching a joint initiative called Vejen til VM (The Road to the World Championships), which will be rolled out in the months leading up to the event. &nbsp; The overarching goal is to initiate activities and programs that engage more Danes in running and physical activity &ndash; across age, ability, and geography &ndash; while simultaneously strengthening communities and local clubs. &ldquo;When we host major international sporting events in Copenhagen, it is not only the city that serves as host &ndash; it is the people of Copenhagen. That is why it is crucial that the city&rsquo;s residents are also able to share in the joy, and that the events leave their mark both on the city itself and on the habits and communities that grow out of them. With 'The Road to the World Championships&rsquo;, we are creating a running festival that brings physical activity all the way into schools, clubs and local communities, so that even more children, young people and older Copenhageners feel inspired to be active, regardless of pace or experience. The World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen will be felt across Denmark

You can now apply for a place in the Elite B or C field at the World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26.&nbsp; Please note, that Elite A in this years edition are the runners that have been selected by their National Federation to represent their country at the World Road Running Championships. Elite B are international runners, see qualification times below, while Elite C is national runners from Denmark. Also note that as an Elite B or C participant, you are responsible for paying for your own race entry.
Elite B and C will have a separate start, after Elite A has been sent off. Deadline for applying is 15th February.&nbsp; Please note that meeting the time standard does not guarantee entry. To ensure a fair and competitive elite field, all applications will be reviewed individually. Even if you meet the published time standards, your place is not automatically guaranteed. This is because we expect more qualified athletes than the number of available spots in the elite field. Time requirements:

Energy was high in F&aelig;lledparken as 188 pupils from Institut Sankt Joseph, Strandvejskolen, and Guldberg Skole took part in the &ldquo;One Year to Go&rdquo; relay on Friday morning. Each child ran 400 meters before passing the baton, and all participants were rewarded with a unique prize: a free entry to the World Championships One Mile (1,609m), taking place in Copenhagen on September 19, 2026.
With up to 65,000 participants expected, the event &ndash; officially titled the World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26 &ndash; has the potential to become the largest mass-participation sports event ever held on Danish soil.
The City of Copenhagen is looking forward to hosting the event:
&ldquo;As a modern capital city, Copenhagen should, of course, attract major sporting events that activate as well as inspire people. Therefore, I am very pleased that the children of the city will have the chance to become a part of the World Championships in running exactly one year from now. It is going to be huge when the world&rsquo;s elite visit Copenhagen with up to 65.000 runners across different distances,&rdquo; says the Lord Mayor Lars Weiss.
&ldquo;Today, schoolchildren took the very first steps toward the Half Marathon World Championships, and with that, we can truly begin the countdown to the biggest running festival Copenhagen has ever seen. Building a legacy beyond race week 
Today's relay for schoolchildren was also part of the activation initiative &lsquo;Road to the World Championships&rsquo;, which aims to create meaningful, long-term engagement for various target groups because of hosting the World Championships. The initiative is run by one of the organizations behind the World Championships, the Danish Athletics Federation, and they are excited to use the event to inspire and engage young people:
"The World Championships in Copenhagen are not just about attracting the world&rsquo;s best runners &ndash; it&rsquo;s just as much about how we can use the championships to inspire and engage the next generation. The &lsquo;One Year to Go&rsquo; run is a great example of how we can open the doors to sports and give children a positive experience through running and the community around it. The goal is for the World Championships to leave a lasting impact that goes beyond the championship days themselves and strengthens running culture and clubs in Denmark far into the future," says Sofie Amdisen Andersen, project manager at Danish Athletics.
A global running festival awaits 
Today&rsquo;s school relay also marked the official one-year countdown to the World Championships, where the absolute best in the world will compete across three distances, setting the stage for a massive international running festival in the Danish capital.
&ldquo;Since hosting the World Athletics World Half Marathon Championships in 2014, Denmark has established itself as an innovative and strong running nation. With one year to go until the 2026 World Championships in One Mile, 5 km, and Half Marathon, preparations are well underway. Celebration across three distances 
The whole championship weekend will be a true running celebration. After the finish line, runners will gather with friends and family in the big and festive Runners Area in F&aelig;lledparken.

Nearly 200 schoolchildren ran their way to a World Championship ticket today – one they will redeem a year from now, when Copenhagen welcomes the world’s best athletes and up to 65,000 participants in the World Athletics Road Running Championships.

6-20 March 2025, you can sign up for the lottery to secure one of the highly coveted tickets for the half marathon distance at the World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26.&nbsp;
A total of 35,000 runners will be ready on the start line when the world half marathon champions are crowned in Copenhagen on 20 September 2026. The best runners on the planet will lead the way, followed closely by runners of all levels, who will experience an extraordinary race on a packed and festive route through the Danish capital.
For the first time ever in Denmark, tickets will be allocated via a lottery system, similar to international marathons like those in London and Berlin.
The reason behind this, according to Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta Athletics &amp; Running:
"Most recently, during the sale of Copenhagen Half Marathon 2025, we saw an overwhelming demand that put a strain on our systems, selling out in just 2.5 hours while many runners were still waiting in the queue. That process was frustrating for both us and the participants, which is why we are introducing the lottery," she explains and continues:
"The lottery ensures a fair and equal chance for everyone. Interested runners now have plenty of time to sign up whenever it suits them, as the chances of being selected are the same regardless of when you enter during the lottery period, March 6-20."

When the world elite arrives in Copenhagen to compete for gold in the half marathon, 5km and one mile distances, up to 65,000 runners will follow in their footsteps on flat, fast and festive courses that showcase the very best of what Copenhagen has to offer.
And the organisers are pulling out all the stops to create an extraordinary running festival, bringing together up to 65,000 runners and accompanying spectators.
&ldquo;The 2026 World Championships will bring the best runners on the planet to Copenhagen, and we are excited to give both Copenhageners and visitors an unforgettable weekend. They will experience world-class road running and a grand running celebration in Runners Area, where everyone is welcome,&rdquo; says Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta Athletics &amp; Running.
An international running celebration awaits For the half marathon, up to 35,000 runners will join the absolute world elite for a thrilling run past many of Copenhagen&rsquo;s most iconic and beloved locations.
&ldquo;When 35,000 runners take off for the Half Marathon World Championships, it won&rsquo;t just be an incredible thrill for each individual runner and the thousands of spectators along the course &ndash; it will be an exceptional international running celebration of historic proportions.&rdquo;
The half marathon course is the same as that of the Copenhagen Half Marathon in 2024 and 2025, and for good reason:

A lottery for the first time in Denmark Although lotteries are common for major international races in cities like London and Berlin, this is the first time a race in Denmark will be sold via a lottery. The reason, according to Sparta&rsquo;s CEO, is high demand:
&ldquo;When the sale for Copenhagen Half Marathon 2025 opened, the demand was overwhelming, systems struggled to keep up, and all entries sold out in just 2.5 hours leaving many still waiting in line. That process was frustrating for both us and the runners, so we now introduce the lottery system. It ensures everyone a fair and equal chance, and interested runners have plenty of time to sign up whenever it suits them. Epic 5km and one mile courses While the half marathon takes place on Sunday 20 September, the 5km and one mile World Championships will be held the day before, on Saturday 19 September.&nbsp;
F&aelig;lledparken will once again be the hub of an exciting festival atmosphere for both runners and spectators, whether they are competing or cheering on the ultra-fast World Championships distances.
On the one mile course, runners will be propelled down &Oslash;sterbrogade, pass a high-energy power zone at Trianglen, and race toward the finish line past Parken Stadium.

Six world champions and 65,000 runners just behind them. In September 2026, the heart of Copenhagen is expected to be the stage for Denmark&rsquo;s largest-ever participant event. The World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26 will take place on September 19-20, 2026. A total of 65,000 participants will join the running festivities behind the world's fastest female and male athletes competing in the Half Marathon, 5K, and One Mile distances.
"It is truly unique that both the world elite and recreational runners can participate in a world championship in the streets of Copenhagen.
