Exactly fifty days from now, the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń will host the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. &ndash; We will spend this time in a sports way, because every day in a different part of our region there will be special events engaging all residents of the Kujawy Pomorze region &ndash; says Marshal Piotr Całbecki. The event has also gained another ambassador - pole vaulter Paweł Wojciechowski.
The world&rsquo;s best athletes will compete for medals in the most important indoor athletics event of the year at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń from 20 to 22 March. It will be a true gathering of stars from around the globe, and they will be challenged by representatives of Poland. &ndash; I am convinced that our athletes will prepare excellently for the competition and, in front of their home crowd, will show that they are capable of competing with the best in the world &ndash; emphasizes the CEO Championships, Krzysztof Wolsztyński.
The approaching World Athletics Indoor Championships will be felt throughout the entire region, because every day until the event begins, sports events will take place in all counties of the region. Interestingly, teams will be formed by various groups, including children, firefighters, members of hobby clubs, and sports clubs. Children from Sadki near Nakło nad Notecią, who are launching this initiative, were present at Thursday&rsquo;s press conference in Toruń. &ndash; The upcoming championships are a great opportunity to promote an active lifestyle &ndash; stressed Całbecki. &ndash; As early as tomorrow, at the primary school in Sadki, we will inaugurate our &ldquo;50 relays of Kujawy Pomorze region&rdquo; series, under which for 50 days, every day in a different municipality, various sports and integration activities will be held for everyone &ndash; children, youth, adults, and entire families. We also want the coming days to be linked with building a sense of community and the joy of experiencing together the approaching celebration of sport. Together we are creating these championships!
Another outstanding Polish athlete has joined the group of championship ambassadors. Like Adrianna Sułek-Schubert, he is connected with Kujawy Pomorze region. From now on &ndash; alongside Sułek-Schubert and Piotr Lisek &ndash; Paweł Wojciechowski will promote the championships. The 36-year-old pole vaulter has won, among other achievements, the world champion title (2011) and a bronze medal at the World Championships (2015), as well as a European silver medal (2014) and the European Indoor Championship title (2019). Wojciechowski was born in Bydgoszcz and has been connected with the Kujawy Pomorze region from the very beginning of his career &ndash; and still is. &ndash; I am very proud that I can contribute to the promotion and organisation of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in my region. For Kujawy Pomorze region, this is undoubtedly a special moment, because although we have hosted many major athletics events, such as the European Athletics Indoor Championships, or excellent meetings like the ORLEN Copernicus Cup, where Armand Duplantis broke his first world record, we have never before hosted an event of the rank of the World Athletics Indoor Championships &ndash; Wojciechowski emphasizes.
Ticket sales for the championships are still ongoing, but only a very small number of tickets remain available. &ndash; There are sessions for which tickets are already sold out, but it is still possible to secure the chance to take part in this sports celebration &ndash; adds Wolsztyński. In total, almost three thousand tickets were put on sale for each of the six sessions. Tickets can be purchased through the eBilet.pl platform. The arena has been divided into three price categories, and the cheapest tickets cost 100 PLN. The competitions at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń will begin on 20 March. Morning sessions will start each day at 10:05, while afternoon sessions will begin at 18:10 on Friday, at 18:25 on Saturday and at 17:40 on Sunday. More than three hundred volunteers who will help organise the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 took part in a Saturday meeting in Toruń. &ldquo;There is no major sporting event in the world that can be efficiently delivered without volunteers. We are very pleased that so many willing people &mdash; not only from Poland &mdash; will help us organise the championships,&rdquo; says Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze Region. 
The World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 will take place on 20&ndash;22 March at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń, the largest and best indoor athletics facility in Poland. &ldquo;There is no other region in the world that has organised such a large number of top-level athletics events, and the World Athletics Indoor Championships are in fact the highest-ranking event we can host in our region. In a sense, we are reaching the ceiling, so it is no surprise that we are making every effort to ensure the event is perfectly organised from the first to the last minute. Volunteers play a major role in this,&rdquo; emphasizes Krzysztof Wolsztyński, the CEO of the championships.

On Saturday, more than three hundred people from Poland came to Toruń to serve as volunteers, assisting participants in the championships. In total, there will be even more volunteers, as many people from abroad have also signed up. During the Saturday meeting, volunteers had the opportunity to meet those involved in organizing the championships, watch a video message from World Athletics President Sebastian Coe, and take part in substantive training sessions. &ldquo;The difference between a good games and the great games is the work of the volunteers. They are absolutely essential in delivering sport at virtually every level,&rdquo; Coe said.
&ldquo;Among other things, we shared a lot of knowledge about safety at the venue, behavior in crisis situations, as well as rules for publishing photos and posts. There was also a special panel dedicated to pro-environmental attitudes, prepared by representatives of the Brodnica Landscape Park and the Municipal Cleaning Company in Toruń,&rdquo; adds Wolsztyński.
Undoubtedly, a major experience for the volunteers was meeting Piotr Lisek, one of the ambassadors of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. &ldquo;From the athletes&rsquo; point of view, the help of volunteers is invaluable, and if I tried to count how many times volunteers have saved me at major events, I&rsquo;d probably run out of fingers. I&rsquo;m convinced that for these mostly young people it&rsquo;s a fantastic adventure and a great experience, and for athletes, journalists, and organizers it&rsquo;s invaluable support,&rdquo; said Lisek, who was happy to pose for photos with the volunteers. This is the last chance to purchase tickets for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. On Monday, sales began for the second and final batch of tickets. From 20 to 22 March, the world&rsquo;s best athletes will compete at the most important indoor athletics event of the year at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń.
Just over two months remain until the start of the biggest athletics event held in Poland in recent years. Tickets from the first sales phase sold out in no time, which comes as no surprise &mdash; after all, the venue will host the world&rsquo;s finest athletes, including Armand Duplantis, the multiple-time and current world record holder in the pole vault for many years to come. Despite his career being one long string of successes, the Swede has not forgotten that his journey to the top effectively began in the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń. On 8 February 2020, during the Orlen Copernicus Cup meeting, he set a world record for the very first time.
&ldquo;I remember that competition very fondly and I remember the arena where I broke the world record for the first time. I will be very happy to return here to compete at the World Indoor Championships,&rdquo; says Duplantis. At the time, the world record stood at 6,17 m, and today Duplantis&rsquo;s indoor world record is already ten centimetres higher. Could the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń witness another record by the great champion? That is certainly not out of the question.
&ldquo;We are well aware that if we could accommodate more spectators, they would definitely come. Unfortunately, constraints such as the need to designate a special stand for athletes, as well as to prepare a significant number of seats for media representatives and guests from around the world, mean that there are fewer tickets than we would like,&rdquo; says Krzysztof Wolsztyński, Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association and Director of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. In total, almost three thousand tickets will be available for each of the six sessions. The venue has been divided into three price categories, with the cheapest tickets costing 100 PLN.
&ldquo;I am convinced that for fans all over Poland, and especially in the Kujawy Pomorze region, this will be an extremely important moment, as opportunities to watch competitions of such a high calibre in Poland do not come around often. We are also very much looking forward to it, because for us it is a rare chance to compete for medals at a major event in front of our home crowd,&rdquo; says Adrianna Sułek-Schubert, an outstanding Polish combined-events athlete and one of the ambassadors of the World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. Sułek-Schubert is preparing for the championships while training in Santa Barbara, California. Another ambassador, Piotr Lisek, has chosen to prepare in Poland.
This coming Saturday, the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń will host a meeting with all the volunteers who will support the organisation of the event. Everyone will be required to complete, among other things, health and safety and first aid training. The <a href="https://worldathletics.org/news/news/qualification-systems-wic-kujawy-pomorze-26-wre-gaborone-26-wu20-oregon-26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">qualification system</a>, which was approved at the World Athletics Council Meeting in Tokyo, is based on a dual pathway, with 50% of athletes qualifying through entry standards and the remaining 50% qualifying through top lists. Qualifying performances must be achieved within the qualifying window, 1 November 2025 to 8 March 2026.&nbsp;
The <a href="https://worldathletics.org/stats-zone/road-to/7199326" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&lsquo;Road to Kujawy Pomorze 26&rsquo; online tool</a> is designed to help athletes, media and fans track the qualification process for next year's World Indoor Championships, which will be held at the Arena Torun from Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March 2026.&nbsp;
Searchable by discipline, country and qualification status, the tool provides a real-time view of each discipline over the course of the WIC Kujawy Pomorze 26 qualification period.&nbsp;
Fields for the combined events will be compiled based on pre-entries from Member Federations and a qualification based on world rankings. Once expressions of interest have been received, the women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon will be added to the 'road to' tool in early January&nbsp;
The tool doesn&rsquo;t, and will not, indicate which athletes have been selected for entry by their member federation. Final entries will be published nearer to the time of the World Indoor Championships.&nbsp;

Leading Polish athletes Adrianna Sułek-Schubert and Piotr Lisek were among the figures to share their excitement for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 during a media briefing held on Tuesday (9) to celebrate 100 days to go to the global event.
The Kujawy Pomorze region is continuing preparations for the most important winter event in athletics. In recent days, representatives of World Athletics visited the city and the venue &ndash; the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń &ndash; which will welcome the world&rsquo;s top athletes along with thousands of fans for the event taking place from 20-22 March.&nbsp;Morning sessions will start each day at 10:05am, while afternoon sessions will begin at 6:35pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 5:40pm on Sunday. The first medals &ndash; in the women&rsquo;s high jump &ndash; will be awarded during the opening session of the championships.
&ldquo;Preparations are entering the final stage. We have just completed a three-day inspection from World Athletics, during which we received positive evaluations. There are areas that require intensified work, but we will certainly meet all the requirements placed before us,&rdquo; says Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze region.&nbsp;The organisation of the event is undoubtedly a challenge, but also an opportunity for the city of Toruń and local businesses. Many fans &ndash; not only from Poland but also from abroad &ndash; will come to admire the world&rsquo;s best athletes. 
&ldquo;We are very pleased that the indoor world championships will attract many tourists. As a city, we are ready to welcome such a large number of guests. Thanks to this, local hotels, restaurants and pubs will be able to prepare fan zones and invite everyone to support the Polish athletes together,&rdquo; emphasises Paweł Gulewski, Mayor of Toruń.
The fact that the World Indoor Championships will take place in Poland and specifically at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń, a venue favoured by athletes, excites Polish competitors, who are eager to perform at their best.&nbsp;&ldquo;I am preparing intensively for the indoor season and regularly train at the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Arena Toruń. I am counting heavily on the support of local fans, because competing in your own country &ndash; and even more so in your own region &ndash; is a truly special experience,&rdquo; says Sułek-Schubert, a top Polish combined events athlete and ambassador of the championships.&nbsp;&ldquo;Hosting a World Indoor Championships in Poland is something exceptional. I&rsquo;m glad we&rsquo;ll be competing on home soil. I&rsquo;m sure the fans&rsquo; support will be extraordinary, and that&rsquo;s what I&rsquo;m counting on,&rdquo; adds another ambassador, Polish pole vaulter Lisek.
Sebastian Chmara, President of the Polish Athletics Association, is convinced that organising such a major global event in Poland will help promote athletics in the country &ndash; one of the PZLA&rsquo;s key goals.&nbsp;&ldquo;We conduct numerous initiatives aimed at encouraging young people to be more active and choose athletics. Major events like the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 are a perfect opportunity to show Polish fans &ndash; especially the younger ones who haven&rsquo;t yet had the chance &ndash; the beauty of our sport,&rdquo; he stresses.
Ticket sales for the first batch began at the end of October. Nearly 3000 tickets for each of the six sessions will be available, and tickets can be purchased via the eBilet.pl platform. The first batch was released on Monday, and the next will be available at the beginning of next year.&nbsp;&ldquo;Some tickets from the first batch are still available, but we encourage fans planning to come to Toruń to buy them early. The next batch will go on sale at the beginning of next year,&rdquo; says Krzysztof Wolsztyński, Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association.
During Tuesday&rsquo;s press conference, the official poster for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 was presented. It had previously been decided that the event&rsquo;s mascot would be a friendly goose named Goosia.

A goose named Goosia, representing the region&rsquo;s identity and traditions, will be the mascot of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26.
The name of the mascot was confirmed following a fan contest. The winner &ndash; Tomasz Wolniewicz &ndash; will receive two tickets for one of the sessions during the championships, which takes place at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń from 20-22 March.
The preparations for one of Poland&rsquo;s most important sports events in 2026 are in full swing. Creating and naming a mascot that tells the story of the region&rsquo;s heritage has been one of the key steps.
&ldquo;I am pleased that our mascot finally has a name,&rdquo; said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze Region. &ldquo;It will be an important symbol of these championships. I hope that the winner chooses tickets for their dream session and will cheer on Polish athletes with all their heart.&rdquo;
WIC Kujawy Pomorze 26 CEO Krzysztof Wolsztyński said: &ldquo;Goosia is a name that combines a Polish female name with a reference to the English word goose. It&rsquo;s a creative linguistic concept and will certainly be easy for visitors to pronounce. We will check that during the Orlen Copernicus Cup, which will take place in Toruń on 22 February.&rdquo;
Above all, having a goose mascot expresses the strong regional identity of the Kujawy Pomorze region, as geese have long been associated with both nature and culinary traditions of the area. A great example of this is 'St. Martin&rsquo;s Goose', promoting family celebrations during Poland&rsquo;s Independence Day and the preservation of regional heritage.
The goose has accompanied the people of this region for centuries, as a source of food, pride, and local identity. As early as the 19th century, geese from Kujawy Pomorze &ndash; especially the white Kołuda breed &ndash; gained recognition beyond the region. This breed was developed at the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Kołuda Wielka near Inowrocław and is now regarded as the best in Europe. For this reason, the Kujawy Pomorze region is often called Poland&rsquo;s goose heartland.
The World Athletics Indoor Championships will be another major &ndash; and the most significant &ndash; international athletics event held in the region. Every year, Toruń hosts Poland&rsquo;s top indoor meeting, the Copernicus Cup, and in Bydgoszcz the Irena Szewińska Memorial is held at the stadium. Both meetings have World Athletics Gold status.

Tickets are on sale for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 &ndash; the biggest sports event in Poland in 2026. The event will star the world&rsquo;s best track and field athletes as they compete at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń from 20-22 March.
The World Indoor Championships is yet another major athletics event taking place in the region, which in recent years has hosted competitions such as the European Athletics Indoor Championships and the European Team Championships. Every year, it also hosts prestigious meetings such as the Irena Szewińska Memorial in Bydgoszcz and the Copernicus Cup &ndash; Poland&rsquo;s top indoor meeting &ndash; in Toruń. 
Both events hold World Athletics Gold status. Toruń and Bydgoszcz also frequently host the Polish Championships (both indoor and outdoor), and both cities have previously staged European Championships &ndash; Toruń the indoor edition, and Bydgoszcz the team championships.
&ldquo;We expect great interest from fans, so we did everything we could to make as many seats as possible available to the public. Of course, there are limitations &ndash; we had to allocate areas for athletes, media and guests from around the world,&rdquo; says Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze Region.
In total, almost 3000 tickets will be available for each of the six sessions, and tickets can be purchased on eBilet.pl. The first pool of tickets went on sale on Monday, while the next release is scheduled for early next year.
&ldquo;Ticket prices depend on the location in the arena and the specific session. The venue has been divided into three categories &ndash; Level II, Level I, and VIP stands. The cheapest ticket, for the opening session of the championships, costs 100 PLN. Depending on the comfort and view from the chosen seat, the price increases,&rdquo; said Krzysztof Wolsztyński, Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association. Special VIP tickets have also been created.
The competition gets under way on 20 March. Morning sessions will begin at 10:05am each day, while afternoon sessions will start at 6:35pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5:40pm on Sunday. &ldquo;Our region is famous for its goose meat and the festival whose next edition will take place on 10-11 November in Przysiek near Toruń. Choosing the mascot was, therefore, an easy decision. The World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 will be a truly exceptional event, not only a celebration of sport, but also an opportunity to showcase the identity and unique character of our region. We want to present Kujawy Pomorze Region to the world in the best possible way&rdquo;, says Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze Region.
Where did the idea for the cheerful goose come from? Above all, it&rsquo;s an expression of strong regional identity, since geese have long been associated with Kujawy Pomorze Region, both as part of the natural landscape and in culinary traditions. The best example is the &ldquo;Goose for St. Martin&rsquo;s Day&rdquo; celebration, which promotes spending the holiday season together with family during Poland&rsquo;s Independence Day and celebrating regional heritage. For centuries, the goose has accompanied the people of this region, serving as a source of food, pride, and local identity.
The tradition of goose breeding in Kujawy Pomorze Region dates back to the Middle Ages. Favorable natural conditions, including lakes and clean rivers, fostered the development of goose farming. The birds were raised naturally, in harmony with the rhythm of nature. By the 19th century, geese from this region, especially the Biała Kołudzka (White Kołuda) breed, began to gain recognition beyond its borders. This breed was developed at the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Kołuda Wielka near Inowrocław, and today it&rsquo;s considered one of the best in Europe. It&rsquo;s not only a hallmark of the region but also one of its most valuable export products. Thanks to this, the Kujawy Pomorze Region is sometimes called &ldquo;Poland&rsquo;s Goose Basin.&rdquo;

Starting from Monday 27 October, fans can buy tickets for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 - and they'll have to act fast, because the world's greatest athletes will be competing there.
Pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis is among the standout athletes to have already announced an intention to compete at the championships, which will be held from 20-22 March 2026. Duplantis, the world and Olympic champion, set his first of 14 world records at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń.
With less than half a year to go, we&rsquo;re well on track &mdash; and we&rsquo;re preparing plenty of surprises for both athletes and fans,&rdquo; said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawy Pomorze Region. "We want the world of athletics to once again see that events in Kujawy Pomorze are truly something special. After all, we&rsquo;ve already hosted quite a few major competitions in recent years."
As the 150-day milestone approaches in the countdown to the championships, it has also been revealed that Polish combined events star Adrianna Sułek-Schubert will be one of the event's official ambassadors.
The 2022 world indoor pentathlon silver medallist says that as an ambassador, she plans to inspire the next generation of athletes while championing healthy living and sustainability.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ll be visiting schools to promote the championships and to encourage children to lead active, healthy lives,&rdquo; she explains. &ldquo;I also want to raise awareness about protecting the environment and using reusable containers. I&rsquo;m truly excited that these championships will take place in our beautiful Kujawy Pomorze Region. Ticket sales for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 2026 open to the public on Monday 27 October, while volunteer registration closes the week before. More than 700 people have already applied to join the volunteer team &mdash; and not just from Poland.
&ldquo;That&rsquo;s actually more than we need, but that doesn&rsquo;t mean there&rsquo;s no room for more!&rdquo; says Całbecki. &ldquo;Anyone who applies in the next few days still has a chance to take part in an unforgettable experience, helping to organise one of the world&rsquo;s top athletics events.&rdquo;
Fans eager to witness world-class competition up close will be able to purchase tickets in two phases.
&ldquo;The first phase begins on 27 October, and the second will launch early next year,&rdquo; explains Krzysztof Wolsztyński, Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re working hard to make as many tickets available as possible so that fans from the Kujawy Pomorze Region &mdash; and from across Poland and beyond &mdash; can be part of this historic occasion. We&rsquo;re confident we can prepare about 3000 tickets per session.&rdquo;
Fans who register early at www.wickujawypomorze26.com and sign up as World Athletics subscribers will gain exclusive access to the pre-sale.
During Thursday&rsquo;s press conference, organisers also unveiled the official mascot of the championships &mdash; a goose, one of the beloved symbols of the Kujawy Pomorze Region. The goose embodies the spirit of competition, local heritage, and the values of athletics.
&ldquo;Our region is famous for its traditional goose dishes and the annual Goose Festival, which takes place on 10&ndash;11 November in Przysiek near Toruń,&rdquo; says Całbecki. &ldquo;So the choice of mascot came naturally &mdash; but now it needs a name! We&rsquo;re launching a contest to name our goose, and the winner will receive two tickets for a session of their choice at the championships. It&rsquo;s definitely worth joining in!&rdquo;

The qualification systems for three 2026 World Athletics Series events have been published, following their approval by the World Athletics Council in Tokyo:
&bull; World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 (20-22 March 2026) &bull; World Athletics Relays Gaborone 26 (2-3 May 2026) &bull; World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 (5-9 August 2026) 
The qualification window for the World Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, runs from 1 November 2025 to 8 March 2026, with qualification based on entry standards and top indoor performance lists.&nbsp;
Individual athletes (except for combined events) can qualify in one of three ways:
&bull; By achieving the entry standard within the qualification period &bull; By World Indoor Tour wild card &bull; By virtue of their position in the top performances list
A Road to Kujawy Pomorze list will be published every week on the World Athletics website, starting from 1 December 2025.

The top eight teams in the relay events at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 automatically qualified for the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana. The remaining spots will be filled via top lists from 1 January 2025 to 5 April 2026, with host nation Botswana automatically entered in all events. A maximum of 24 teams will be entered in each event. In the mixed 4x100m, all 24 teams will be selected from top lists.
The World Relays in Gaborone will be the main qualification event for relay events at the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest and the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing. The top six teams in the mixed 4x100m and mixed 4x400m in Gaborone qualify for Budapest, while the top 12 teams in every event in Gaborone qualify for Beijing.

For the World U20 Championships in Oregon, USA, the qualification system is solely based on entry standards, with a qualification period running from 1 October 2025 to 26 July 2026. The event will feature the addition of the mixed 4x100m and the 5000m race walk, which will replace the 10,000m race walk.

The countdown to the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 officially began on Monday (22) with the unveiling of a clock in front of the Marshal&rsquo;s Office of the Kujawy Pomorze Region &ndash; a spot visited daily by residents.
During the ceremony, Marshal Piotr Całbecki emphasised that preparations for the global athletics event are entering their most intensive stage. He also reflected on his recent trip to the World Championships in Tokyo. &ldquo;I am delighted that we came up with the idea of the countdown clock. It allows residents of our city and region to see exactly how much time remains until the championships. It is also a reminder to our team to accelerate our preparations. This is a major event for the entire region, and we will work to ensure that Kujawy Pomorze becomes a region recognised worldwide,&rdquo; said Marshal Całbecki.
Organising the World Indoor Championships requires the collaboration of many stakeholders across multiple areas. The Polish Athletics Association is supporting the effort with expertise and guidance. &ldquo;Our federation is well known for hosting major international competitions, and we are happy to share our experience,&rdquo; said Krzysztof Wolsztyński, Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association. &ldquo;We can confirm that ticket sales will open at the end of October, and on 16 October we will reveal the official mascot, which will accompany us in the run-up to the championships.&rdquo;
With the clock now ticking, the final countdown to one of the region&rsquo;s most significant sporting events is officially underway.

Clock is ticking, it's the final countdown!

With seven months to go to the start of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, <a href="https://worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-indoor-championships/kujawypomorze26/timetable" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the timetable for the event</a> has been released.
The three-day competition, which will be held at the Arena Torun from Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March 2026, will get underway with action in the men's heptathlon on the morning of the first day. That first session will also feature the women&rsquo;s high jump final, while the first champions on the track will be crowned later that evening in the men&rsquo;s 60m final.
Both 3000m events will be held as straight finals on Saturday evening, while the 1500m finals take place on Sunday, allowing athletes to double up in those disciplines, should they wish to do so.
The women&rsquo;s pentathlon will take place throughout the final day of action, while the championships conclude with the men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s 4x400m relays.
Reflecting the programmes from the past five editions, the championships will feature straight finals in the field events and medallists will be decided during all six sessions.
Inaugurated in 1987, the World Indoor Championships will celebrate its 21st edition next year. More than 500 athletes from about 120 teams are expected to compete at the 2026 edition.
