World Athletics Ultimate Championship - The Venue
The National Athletics Centre was built for the 2023 World Athletics Championships. It is located on the eastern bank of the Danube River, in the southern part of Budapest.
The stadium originally had a capacity of 35,000. The temporary upper tier was removed after the World Championships, reducing the capacity to 15,000. In its place, a circular plateau was created and turned into publicly accessible leisure areas.
Today, the stadium serves as the main competition venue and training centre for Hungarian athletics. The area features a large public park with extensive green spaces, where Budapest residents and students can enjoy training and running tracks, street workout zones and many other opportunities for sport and recreation.
