Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon, who yesterday became a three-time world champion in the 1500 meters distance at the World Championships in Budapest, will be one of the twenty-two Kenyan national team superstars participating in the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships in the streets of Riga on October 1st. The Kenyan team is the first of the 64 national teams registered for Riga to present such a star-studded lineup – featuring Olympic and world champions as well as world record holders.

Together with compatriots Lilian Kasait Rengeruk and Beatrice Chebet, who will represent Kenya in the 5 km distance at the World Road Running Championships Riga23, Kipyegon will soon start her battle for a spot in the 5000 meters final in Budapest. Interestingly, in the 5000 meters distance in Budapest, Latvian team member Agate Caune will also test her skills, aiming to stand alongside those renowned Kenyan athletes on the start line of the 5 km race at Akmens Bridge's base on October 1st in Riga.

Meanwhile, the other two Kenyan team members registered for the road race in Riga, Abel Kipsang and Reynold Kipkorir Cheruiyot, will compete tonight in the World Championships final of the 1500 meters, vying for the title of world champion.

Faith Kipyegon, who triumphed in the 1500 meters distance in Budapest, will compete in the Road Mile (1609 meters) distance in Riga to compete for the world champion title. This race will take place from the Latvian National Museum of Arts to the Freedom Monument, and it could present an opportunity for a new world record in this distance.

We are convinced that this event will attract not only professional runners but also thousands of running enthusiasts from Latvia and more than 100 countries around the globe. Registration for the mass races in Riga will be open until mid-September!
