Why do you hold a lottery?
We know that a lot of people look forward to running at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen. And we know from experience that especially entries for the half marathon are in high demand. To make sure that everyone has an equal chance to secure an entry, the starting bibs will be distributed by lottery.
Is there a lottery for all three distances?
No. There will only be held a lottery for the entries to the Half Marathon. The entries to the One Mile and the 5 kilometer races will be offered in open sale.
How does the lottery work?
When the lottery opens, you have two weeks to register. This gives you plenty of time to enter, regardless of your work schedule or location. Everyone has the same chance of being selected, whether they register on the first or last day of the entry period. Once the entry period ends, we will randomly draw participants to fill the half marathon race. After this process, all registered participants will receive an email informing them whether they have secured a race entry. This system has been tested and used for major events for many years, and we appreciate your understanding that it is the best way to allocate race entries.
When does the lottery open and close?
The lottery opens at 11:00 AM CET on Thursday, March 6, 2025. After that, you can enter at any time until March 20 at 11:59 PM CET. Your chances are the same no matter when you register during the period.
Why are half marathon entries offered through a lottery?
We expect that a lot of runners want to participate in the WRRC Copenhagen 26. Our experience shows that the half marathon distance is especially in high demand. To ensure that everyone has an equal chance to secure a spot, entries for the half marathon will be allocated via a lottery.
