UK-based event medical supplier, Elite Emergency Medical Services (Elite EMS), has today been announced as an event supplier for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24.
Taking place from 1-3 March this year at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow will host the 19th edition of the championships, and this will be the third time it has been held in the UK with Birmingham staging the event in both 2003 and 2018.
More than 700 athletes are expected to compete in Glasgow from more than 130 countries. The Championships fall within the qualification period for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, giving the event extra significance as competitors go for gold.
With athletes honing their preparations for the important year ahead, event organisers are delighted to be able to welcome Elite EMS as an event supplier with a specific focus on event medical services.
Elite EMS will provide world-class first aid support and emergency response services at the event and will provide access to their experienced team of paramedics and ambulance services at the venue to ensure athlete health and safety is a priority.
Mike Hayes, Assistance CEO at Elite EMS said: “We at Elite EMS are proud and honoured to have been chosen as an event medical supplier for this prestigious occasion. Our operations and event planning teams are working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
In preparation for the Championships, we have made significant investments in training our staff and acquiring state-of-the-art medical equipment to ensure that we provide first-class medical cover.”
“We are impressed by the event’s high level of commitment to the wellbeing of both athletes and attendees. By working in partnership with the World Athletics Indoor Championships as their event medical supplier, we will ensure that the health and safety of all attendees is given the highest priority.”
Billy Garrett, Director of Tourism, Culture and Events at Glasgow Life and joint Chair of the Local Organising Committee added: “We are delighted to add Elite EMS to our growing list of event suppliers as we finalise preparations for this prestigious event.
“Elite EMS has vast experience working in the medical field and we know we will be able to rely on their professional response on the field of play should it be required during the prime indoor athletics event of the year.
“Safety is, of course, our number one priority when it comes to the wellbeing of athletes and securing the services of Elite EMS marks a big milestone in our preparations for the event in March.”
Glasgow will stage the World Athletics Indoor Championships five years on from hosting the hugely successful European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2019. A projected global audience of more than 100 million viewers in over 150 territories will watch the Championships of the number one Olympic sport.
