Ivana Spanovic Vuleta Serbian Championships 2022

Serbian athletics stars at the same place with the same task and goal, winning the state championships and preparing for March 2022 when they will fight for the world throne in Belgrade’s Stark Arena.

The Athletic Hall in Belgrade was a battlefield of our country’s best athletes and the host of Serbian Senior Indoor Championships last weekend. The biggest star of Serbian “Queen of Sport” and our most successful member of the National Team, Ivana Spanovic Vuleta (VNS) demonstrated all the beauty and power she has in this sports and the event she competes in, long jump. Because of her we got used to podiums, records, a broad smile as a sign of a triumph, and it was just like that on 5 February 2022 in Banjica where she jumped 6.85m which made her yet again the best in the country. Jumps per series: 6.83m, 6,63m, 6,75m, 6,62m, X, 6,85m.

“This is our first competition after a long time and since the approach run was shorter, I am satisfied with the result. The focus of the competition was the jump technique and we succeeded in that”, Ivana said,

We will have the opportunity to watch our golden athlete, the World Champion, at Stark Arena from 18 to 20 March when the World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Belgrade, and where our diamond Ivana will chase new gold.

“In two weeks, I will compete in Birmingham, then at Belgrade Indoor Meeting in Belgrade’s Arena and eventually, cherry on the cake, the World Athletics Championship. This winter, I have a clear goal and all my wishes are aimed at one place – the Arena podium”, Spanovic concluded.

Along with Ivana, the members of our National Team who have already qualified for the World Championships in Belgrade’s Arena as well as those who are close to that placement were competing for the State Senior Championship podium.

An excellent moment for checking their form a month and a half before the world gathering they qualified for, was used by: Asmir Kolasinac (OAK) shot put with the result 20,73m, Elzan Bibic (NOP) 1.500m in 3:45.12, and Maja Ciric (PBG) 400m with the result of 53,40s.

Athletes close to qualifying are Aleksa Kijanovic (OAK) 60m, Luka Trgovcevic (OAK) 60m hurdles, Milica Gardasevic (VNS) and Lazar Anic (RKG) long jump. Several competitions where they will try to qualify for WC Belgrade22 are ahead of them, and the last chance will be on 7 March when the 7th Belgrade Indoor Meeting will be held at Stark Arena.

The official partner for selling tickets for this world athletics gathering is the Tickets company on the website tickets.rs. Tickets can be bought at their selling points: Shopping Centre Usce, Dom omladine, and Bilet servis as well as online on their website on the following link –https://new.tickets.rs/tour/world_athletics_indoor_championships_59

The second day of the State Championship started with the pole vault. Djordje Mijailovic (VNS) won with the result of 4.40m.

Anja Lukic (OAK) had a great 60m hurdles race and finished it with the result 8.24s. To qualify for the World Championship, she needs 8.16s. Luka Trgovcevic (OAK) became the state champion in the same event for men category with the result of 7.94s.

Three female competitors had a big and uncertain competition in high jump – Angelina Topic (TJB), Zorana Bukvic (VOZ), and Jovana Delic (CZB). Jovana Delic (CZB) became the state championship with the result of 1.87m, Angelina Topic was the second with the result of 1.84m, and Zorana Bukvic was the third with the result of 1.81m. We would like to remind that Angelina Topic has become an older junior this year so her time in the senior competition is yet to come.

Jovana Ilic (SSU) won triple jump with 13.38m, Teodora Boberic (TJB) was the second with the result of 12.56m, and Ivana Ognjanovic (CZB) was the third with 12.26m.

Aleksa Kijanovic (OAK) became a double Serbian Indoor Champion by winning both 60m and 200m with the result of 21.82s.

Lazar Anic (RKG) became the state champion in long jump with the result of 7.77m.

A new state record in 4x400 relay was set by OAK in male competition. Kijanovic, Milic, Sekulic and Vuckovic had the result of 3:16.51s.

Serbian Senior Championships, where our best senior athletes competed, finished by setting the male relay record.
