Two medallists from the Paris Olympics and two champions from the recent European Indoor Championships feature on the Italian team for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25.

Olympic long jump silver medallist Mattia Furlani and triple jump bronze medallist Andy Diaz Hernandez will be joined by European indoor 60m champion Zaynab Dosso for the event taking place in China from 21-23 March.

Dosso ran a world-leading national record of 7.01 to win her European indoor 60m title in Apeldoorn and the 25-year-old, who also claimed world indoor bronze in Glasgow last year, will be on the medal hunt again in Nanjing.

Diaz Hernandez also set a world lead to win in Apeldoorn, soaring 17.71m to add European indoor gold to his Olympic bronze, while Furlani – world leader with his 8.37m leap from Torun – secured silver in Apeldoorn as he missed out on gold by a single centimetre.

That trio will be joined on the 21-strong Italian team in Nanjing by their fellow European indoor medallist Andrea Dallavalle, who claimed triple jump bronze, plus 2024 world indoor medallists Lorenzo Simonelli and Leonardo Fabbri.
