Valerie Adams is a four-time world indoor champion who claimed the last of those crowns in Sopot in 2014. The shot put star has returned to Poland for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, this time as the World Athletics ambassador.

Here are her top five events to look forward to during the three-day competition, which gets under way on Friday (20).

Women’s shot put

"Obviously first up is the women’s shot put. I'm looking forward to Sarah (Mitton), Chase (Jackson), Yemisi (Ogunleye) and Jessica (Schilder) fighting it out. With the event at the moment, it has been a bit of a guessing game who will come out on top, which is fantastic."

Women’s high jump

"The competitiveness between Nicola (Olyslagers) and Yaroslava (Mahuchikh) is always quite intriguing. It's calm and then it's full-on competition mode. So that's always one to look forward to."

Men’s 60m hurdles

"I’m looking forward to Trey Cunningham competing. The men’s 60m hurdles is always an event that's highly competitive, but also highly dangerous because of the short race of 60 metres."

60m

"The 60m for men and women – sprints always provide excitement for the whole championship. I love that there are different winners on the indoor track as opposed to the outdoor track."

Men’s pole vault

"And, obviously, the men’s pole vault with Mondo Duplantis. Whatever that man puts his mind to, he seems to achieve it, and the sky is the limit. So that's always a very highly anticipated event, not only for me, but I'm sure for the whole of the athletics family out there.

"The World Indoor Championships is going to be an extraordinary competition with extraordinary performances and I am looking forward to experiencing this firsthand, on site, with the rest of the spectators from Poland."
