Travel

 

Glasgow's spectacular arena, known as the 'Emirates Arena' is the competition venue for the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Sustainability is at the core of our planning, so with easy and frequent public transport links by both bus and train, along with excellent cycle routes getting to the Emirates Arena is simple, so why not consider leaving the car at home?

 

Bus

 

Several bus routes serve the Emirates Arena. Travel from the city centre takes approximately 30 minutes followed by a short 10-minute walk to the Arena. You can plan your bus journey with Traveline Scotland on their website or by calling 0871 200 2233 (calls cost 12p per minute from a UK landline, charges from other providers or mobiles may vary). 

 

Train - from Glasgow Central Station

 

The quickest route is from Glasgow Central to Dalmarnock. The journey will take approximately 10 minutes, then it’s a 10-minute walk to the Arena. The nearest alternative station is Bridgeton, which is a 15-minute walk.

The first train to stop at Dalmarnock Station on the Sunday morning will be at 08:31, leaving Glasgow Central low level at 08:25

 

Additonal services will be stopping at Dalmarnock Station on the night of Sunday 3 March.  The final service to Glasgow Central station will leave Dalmarnock at 23:35 following the conclusion of the event.

 

Train - from Glasgow Queen Street Station

 

From Queen Street Station, take the train to Bellgrove. The train journey is approximately 5 minutes, followed by a 25-minute walk to the Arena. Please note that Queen Street Station is only a 10-minute walk from Glasgow Central Station.

Cycling and walking

 

If you’re travelling by bike or on foot, the Emirates Arena is a 10-minute cycle or 45-minute walk from the city centre. 

 

Bicycle parking is available on a first come, first served basis and you should bring your own means of securing your bike (chain, lock, etc). Our cycle park can be found here.

 

The quickest cycling route is via National Cycle Route 75 (Glasgow to Cambuslang) followed by a short on-road cycle to London Road. For ideas of the best routes in the city and surrounding areas to follow by bike,  check out the Sustrans website.

 

Glasgow operates a fantastic cycle hire scheme, operated by OVO Bikes. Visit OVO Bikes website to find out how it works. The nearest docking stations are 8474 (London Road) and 8456 (Dalmarnock Station).

Car parking

 

There will be no parking or pick-up points for private cars at the venue. Spectators are strongly advised to take public transport to and from the event. If travel by car is essential, please see directions below.

 

At Junction 2A on the M74, take the A74 exit to Tollcross / Cambuslang. At the roundabout, take the exit onto Fullarton Rd / London Rd / A74, then take a left onto the East End Regeneration Route. 

 

The main car park on the left will to be closed to the public during the event for operational purposes, except limited pre-bookable facilities for blue badge holders. Visit our accessibility section for details.

 

As per the Spectator Guide, there is no car parking facilities available for private cars at the venue. We recommend that spectators take public transport to and from the event, with various options listed above. If travel by car is essential, there are nearby public car parks that can be found via websites such as Parkopedia. Please be aware that using any nearby car parks are not endorsed by the LOC.
