With just one month to go, athletes across the globe are competing to secure the final few places at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow. However, having stolen a lead on the pack, organisers are excited to confirm their selection of Scottee the Scottish Terrier, as the official event mascot and friendly face of the Championships.

Known for their vivid personality, the Scottish Terrier is an independent, confident companion of high spirits and dogged persistence, a quality world-class athletes relate to.

Scottee will play a huge part in welcoming spectators and athletes to the city during the Championships and is expected to be a huge hit with the crowd, across three days of intense competition from 1-3 March.

Already a familiar face to eagle eyed fans, Scottee first featured as the mascot of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2019 having been designed aby a pupil from Crookston Primary School. Now stepping up to world level, Scottee will sport a new look for WIC Glasgow 24, wearing a bespoke uniform featuring the event logo and brand pattern.

Scottee has also be given a pair of brand-new trainers by World Athletics partner ASICS, to enable him to keep up with the world’s best as he makes his way around the competition bowl, making sure he can high five as many spectators as possible.

Organisers are also encouraging spectators to keep an eye out for Scottee as he travels around the city this month, making his debut at the opening of the Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) exhibition at Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre on Friday night (2 February).

Billy Garrett, Director of Tourism, Culture and Events at Glasgow Life and joint Chair of the Local Organising Committee, said: “Spectator experience is a massive part of any major event, and we are delighted to be able to secure the services of Scottee ahead of the World Athletics Indoor Championships next month.

“We’re expecting three days of unmissable, world class action, but it’s also important to ensure we have a world class experience for spectators off the track and we have no doubt Scottee will be a hit with the fans, working alongside our fantastic event presentation team.”

We are sure Scottee will ‘raise the woof’ during the Championships in Glasgow!
