Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age as of 1 January 2024. You must be available between 23 February - 4 March 2024 and able to complete a minimum of 4 shifts (dependent on the role), as well as attending one training day in February 2024. Applicants must also be able to communicate in English or British Sign Language (although English does not have to be their first language). Volunteers must have the right to volunteer in the UK.
You must be 16 years old as of 1 January 2024 and there is no maximum age limit. Volunteers under the age of 18 years will be restricted to roles and shift times appropriate for their age.
Volunteers are required between the 23 February - 4 March 2024, although some roles may be needed before and after these dates. Actual dates will be provided once you have been offered a role.

Yes, you must be able to confidently communicate in English (speak, read, write) or British Sign Language, although English does not have to be your first language. We welcome volunteers able to speak other languages in addition to English.
WICGlasgow24 will provide travel support on public transport within a reasonable distance to the venue. Full details will be available closer to the event. Long-distance travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the volunteer as are the costs for attending volunteer selection and training sessions.
No. The opportunity is open to anyone who has a passion and enthusiasm for the event.
There are no qualifications required, we just ask that you bring your experience, skills and enthusiasm to the role.
We cannot guarantee any particular role at this stage. However, we would like to place you in a role that you will enjoy and will do our best to find a role that suits your interests, skills and experience.
The selection stage is now complete and all applications are being reviewed.

You will receive training specific to the venue and the role you will undertake. You will be required to undertake training before you can carry out your role to ensure that you have all the information needed to confidently support the event. Training will be provided in person in February 2024.
Yes. Training provided will be specific to the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24.

The volunteer uniform for WICGlasgow24 is provided by Asics. Uniform items will be available in standard unisex sizes. A list of size options is included on the volunteer application form.
You must be available for the duration 23 February - 4 March 2024. If you are unable to attend a shift, we may be able to make arrangements with another volunteer to cover so please let us know as soon as possible.
That’s great, we are pleased you are looking forward to the event. We ask that you ensure your shift times do not clash with the session(s) you are attending and if so, let us know as soon as possible.If you do attend the sessions as a spectator, it is important that you do not wear your uniform. So please ensure to bring a change of clothes if going on the same day before/after a shift.
Unfortunately, not. Although you won't be entitled to any special discount, if you are successful in gaining a volunteer position you will have a key role in one of the world's largest events when it takes place - a unique opportunity indeed!
If you are a blue badge holder, we will aim to support designated parking close to your location. Please let us know if you require this.
Yes. Please let us know that you will be volunteering with your Support Worker / Personal Assistant so we can put the necessary arrangements in place and discuss with you both the best way to support you.
Please let us know your circumstances and we will do what we can to adapt a suitable role to your requirements and to ensure that you have everything you need to confidently carry out your role.
Some roles may require checks. We won’t ask for this information unless it’s required, and we’ll let you know before you confirm your role.
Yes. You can volunteer for as many hours as you wish and still claim benefits if you continue to meet the conditions of the benefit you receive and you only get money from volunteering to cover expenses (such as travel costs).
