New opportunities for youth volunteers available for World Athletics Championships Oregon22
EUGENE, Ore. – The local organizing committee (LOC) for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 is excited to announce that new opportunities for youth volunteers are now available for the event.
General volunteer registration launched in November 2021, with incredible response from across Lane County, the state of Oregon, the United States, and the world. At that time, volunteers were required to be 18 or older at the time of the event to apply.
Since then, the LOC has worked hard to create opportunities for young people in the volunteering space; happily, the age restriction has been adjusted to enable 16- and 17-year-olds to join Crew22, the name given to all members of WCH Oregon22’s workforce. These youth volunteers will be included in multiple aspects of the event, most prominently in fan experience areas.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old at the time of the Championships to apply. The event will take place July 15–24. Those interested in volunteering can register here.
This is the first time the World Athletics Championships will be hosted on U.S. soil, and with more than 1,500 volunteers needed, Crew22 will be the backbone of the event. The members of Crew22 will showcase and represent our collective communities as we work together to deliver this historically significant global event.
The LOC is prioritizing connecting with the next generation of track and field fans, through these new volunteer opportunities as well as through Making Tracks, a youth engagement program designed for K-12 students.
There are many ways to get involved with WCH Oregon22. Be a part of history by registering to be a volunteer today!
