Tokyo will host the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 (WCH Tokyo 25) between 13-21 September 2025. During this time, the Japanese capital expects to host thousands of athletes, media, staff and spectators from all over the world. Volunteers play a vital role in the delivery of the championships in various areas, including hospitality for athletes, event staff, and spectators service.

Recruitment Guidelines

 

■　Number of Volunteers: WCH Tokyo 25 is planning to recruit approximately 3,000 volunteers.

 

■　Application Period: Applications can be submitted from Friday, 1 November 10:00 am to Monday, 16 December 12:00pm 2024.

 

■　Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of 1 April 2025, hold Japanese citizenship or have valid residency status in Japan during the activity period, and be able to attend training programs.

 

■　How to apply: How to apply: Please register your email using the link above.

 

■　Volunteer Periods: Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of seven days (shifts) from 30 August 2025 to 23 September 2025. Consecutive activities should not exceed five days.

 

■　Venues: National Stadium, Road Events venues, warm-up venues, hotels, Haneda/Narita airport etc.

 

■　Volunteer Activities:

Administrative support	Supporting competition management (National Stadium, marathon/racewalking), training venue management etc.
Media support	Assisting media and press area
Guidance and information support	Guiding officials at venues, airports, hotels, etc., providing guidance at information desks, etc.
Hospitality support	Providing guidance to athletes and VIPs, etc.
Medical support	Supporting doping control officers, medical staffs, etc.
Events support	Assisting ceremony operation and other events, etc.

 

■　Volunteer Supplies: All volunteers will be provided with a uniform, including shoes, which must be worn at all times while volunteering during the event. The volunteer program will also offer meals or equivalent meal costs during shifts, as well as insurance for volunteer activities.

*Note: Transportation and accommodation costs during training and activity periods will be at the volunteer's own expense.
