Tokyo will host the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 (WCH Tokyo 25) between 13-21 September 2025. During this time, the Japanese capital expects to host thousands of athletes, media, staff and spectators from all over the world. Volunteers play a vital role in the delivery of the championships in various areas, including hospitality for athletes, event staff, and spectators service.
WCH Tokyo 25 will be the highest profile sports event to be staged in Tokyo next year, attracting more than 2,000 athletes from 200 countries, as athletes build up to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
WCH Tokyo 25 is planning to recruit around 3,000 volunteers to support its delivery of the Championships across the areas of Administrative support, Media support, Guidance and information support, Hospitality support, Medical support, and Events support.. Volunteer recruitment is open from 1 November until 16 December 2024.
Volunteers will be located at the Japan National Stadium, practice sites, hotels, and airports around the city. They will largely be required between the end of August -23 September 2025 and must be available to undertake a minimum of 7 days (shifts) during this period and attend a training day.
The volunteer activity time, including break time, will be approximately 8 hours a day.
