About the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27

From 11-19 September 2027, the world’s eyes will once again turn to Beijing. Twelve years on from its successful staging of athletics’ flagship event, the World Athletics Championships returns to the first city ever to have hosted both a Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

This marks the second time that the World Athletics Championships and Beijing’s proven event-hosting pedigree come together, making Beijing the first Chinese city to host this elite championship twice. Over the past 12 years, Beijing has continued to refine its expertise in organising major events, with its hosting systems becoming increasingly sophisticated and its overall delivery standards rising steadily.
