21 June 1999 - The took place in the Kingston National Stadium this weekend. Lorraine Graham clocked 50.63 in the 400m to establish the leading performance of the year, in one of the greater moments of the competition.

In the 400m hurdles, Olympic champion Deon Hemmings ran a season’s personal best of 53.90 while Dinsdale Morgan was defeated in the men’s race by Kemal Thompson.

In the sprint races evergreen Merlene Ottey and Raymond Stewart finished third with 11.20 and 10.35 respectively. Ottey, who has not missed one edition of the IAAF World Championships, is scheduled to make her 7th appearance in Seville. Since Helsinki ’83, the first edition of the IAAF World Championships she hasn’t missed a 100m final and placed 4th in 1983, 3rd in 1987, 3rd in 1991, 2nd in 1993, 2nd in 1995 and 7th in 1997. As for Raymond Stewart, he should take part in his 6th edition at the World Championships in Seville.
