Potential storylines and notes

  • The target time for a world indoor record is 3:12.44
  • Three of the four members of Poland’s gold medal-winning team from Tokyo 2020 have been selected for Kujawy Pomorze (Natalia Bukowiecka, Justyna Swiety-Ersetic, Katejan Duszynski) although it seems improbable that Bukowiecka will compete in the mixed 4x400m
  • With a 24/4/88 DOB, Marika Popowicz-Drapala (POL) is the oldest athlete entered for the World Indoor Championships. She holds the V35 world indoor 400m record with 51.87
  • 2024 world indoor 400m champion Alexander Doom (BEL) is only running in the relays in Kujawy Pomorze. "It was a winter of ups and downs. I managed to run a reasonably good winter season, which didn't happen last year. I did struggle with a small tear in my adductor again four weeks ago, but we can run again and hopefully also make a contribution to the relay teams."
  • Helena Ponette (BEL) is running in the individual 400m but describes the mixed 4x400m as the priority: "The mixed relay is the priority. I see the individual race as good preparation. I feel like I improve every time in championships, which means my second, third, or fourth race is my fastest race. We are here with a strong team. We have demonstrated on several occasions that we can reach a high level in the mixed relay, and that is what we are aiming for now."
  • The nickname for the Belgium mixed relay team is the ‘Belgian Waffles.’
