  • At 20y/255d, Trayvon Bromell (USA) is the youngest ever winner of the 60m title. He won gold in 2016 in 6.47
  • Christian Coleman (USA) holds the championship record with 6.37 and four of the eight fastest times in World Indoor Championships history

Potential storylines and notes

  • No Jamaican athlete has ever won the men’s 60m at the World Indoor Championships. Can Kishane Thompson, Ackeem Blake or Brian Levell be the first?
  • Can Jordan Anthony or Trayvon Bromell win the United States’ 11th gold medal in the men’s 60m? Bromell won gold in the 60m a decade ago on home soil in Portland in 2016
  • Jordan Anthony has said his goal is to break the world record of 6.34 set by Christian Coleman. “My goal is to try to break the world record. I am not going to sugarcoat it. Why not break it at the world stage where I am basically racing the world? That is my goal. Sometimes you fall short of your goals but me breaking the world record and not winning would be fine," he said. "Being a rookie does not change my mindset or my confidence, I will never lose confidence in who I am as a person. Coming here, I feel more excited than I feel pressure."
  • Can Jeremiah Azu (GBR) become just the second athlete to defend his 60m title and the fourth athlete to win multiple world indoor 60m titles? He ran a PB of 6.47 in his last race in Berlin. There was also a British winner when Poland held the 2014 World Indoor Championships (Richard Kilty, 6.49)
  • Can Eloy Benitez (PUR) win Puerto Rico’s first ever medal at the World Indoor Championships? He won his semifinal in 2025 in 6.52 but was a DNF in the final. He was also DQ'd in the heats of the 2026 South American Indoor Championships
  • Some long-standing national records have fallen this year. Hristo Iliev has broken the Bulgarian record of 6.58 set in 1978 three times in 2026 (6.54, 6.53, 6.51) and Simon Verherstraeten has broken the Belgian 60m record with 6.52, improving the previous mark of 6.56 from 1988
  • Can Oliwer Wdowik (POL) break the long-standing Polish 60m record set by Marian Woronin (6.51) in 1987? He improved to 6.54 at the Polish Indoor Championships on this track.
  • Will we see the fastest ever men’s 60m on Polish soil? The Polish all-comers’ record stands at 6.46
