Olympic champion Stephanie BrownTrafton is ready for her return to competition down under...

"I have my first two meets of the season coming up in the next two weeks. First I'm off to Sydney for the Sydney Track Classic (APM-Q) Saturday February 28th.

"The weather should be very nice, much better than here in Sacramento, CA where it has been raining for the past two weeks.

"It is difficult to get a practice in when the weather is nasty and cold. My dad has been helping out by gathering my discs when the field gets too wet and muddy to walk in.

"He wears his mud boots and slips around out in the wet field trying to dodge the discs as they fly past.

"Thanks to all of the dads out there!

"The second meet is in Melbourne for the Melbourne Track Classic Thursday March 5th. It seems very close to the bushfires that swept through Victoria a few weeks ago.

"I am expecting to see firsthand the devastation that a fast moving fire can cause. I am hoping that the meet organizers might consider planning something for the athletes to do to help the cause in Victoria....it would be a great benefit for everyone.

"I think this will be a great opportunity to get the year off on a good note and have a lot of fun too!"
