Two-time world indoor champion Genzebe Dibaba will return to her favourite Swedish city for the IAAF Diamond League meeting when she competes in the 5000m at Stockholm Bauhaus Athletics on 30 July.

Stockholm has a special place in the history of international distance running and has been the scene of numerous world records.

Dibaba herself has set two world indoor records in Stockholm, clocking 8:16.60 over 3000m in 2014 and 14:18.86 over 5000m earlier this year.

“Stockholm is my second home and I’m looking forward to Stockholm Bauhaus Athletics and the chance to run a fast 5000m,” said Dibaba, who already this year has produced two of the seven fastest times in history over 5000m when winning at the IAAF Diamond League meetings in Eugene and Oslo.

The meeting record in Stockholm belong to fellow Ethiopian Meseret Defar, who clocked 14:12.88 in 2008. The world record stands to Dibaba’s older sister Tirunesh at 14:11.15, while Almaz Ayana’s IAAF Diamond League record of 14:14.32, set earlier this year in Shanghai, could also be a target.
