Dwight Phillips, the World champion in the Long Jump, and Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles will face off in the 60m at the BW-Bank Meeting in Karlsruhe on 31 January.

The BW-Bank Meeting is the second of ten IAAF Indoor Permit Meetings in 2010.

Phillips, who regained the world title he previously captured in 2003 and 2005, will bring solid sprint credentials to the fast Karlsruhe track. He boasts a 6.47 career best in the 60m and last year clocked 10.06 in the 100m.

Martina, 25, was fourth in the 100m at the 2008 Olympic Games where he clocked a national record of 9.93.

Both will be aiming for the meeting record of 6.45 set by Frenchman Ronald Pognon in 2005, at the time, the European record.

Also in the field is Steve Mullings, a member of Jamaica's 4x100m relay quartet which took World championship gold in Berlin last August.

Local eyes will focus on top German sprinters Christian Blum and Tobias Unger. Blum, 22, has a career best of 6.56, and Unger, 30, a former 200m bronze medallist at the World indoor championships, has a personal best of 6.60.

The women's 60m field will be headlined by American Angela Williams, the reigning World indoor champion in the short dash.

Other top names previously announced include Germany's high jump sensation Ariane Freidrich, the World bronze medallist from Berlin, and Frenchman Romain Mesnil, the World silver medallist outdoors, in the Pole Vault. He'll face top German vaulters Alexander Straub and Tim Lobinger.
