MonteCarloEuropean champion Tia Hellebaut (BEL) and World champion Kajsa Bergqvist (SWE) are the latest headline names to sign-up for the IAAF Golden League 2007.

The two high jumping artists have entertained us on many occasions on the international athletics circuit. In their careers they have met 16 times with Bergqvist having 11 wins to the Belgian’s 5 with regard to their head to head duels. Last year, of their nine encounters it was 4 to 5 in favour of Hellebaut who achieved a marvellous 2.03m victory over the World champion in Gothenburg, a performance which took the continental outdoor gold.

Today in Brussels, Belgium, the organisers of the Memorial van Damme, one of the six meetings of the IAAF Golden League, held a press conference with Hellebaut, 29, and Bergqvist, 30, as their guests of honour. The two stars will duel throughout the IAAF Golden League during the coming European summer. Their competition on 14 September in Brussels’ Stade Roi Baudouin will be the fifth of their six 2007 IAAF Golden League battles over the bar.
