Ethiopia’s 2011 World Championships 10000m gold medallist Ibrahim Jeilan continues his comeback after injuries in 2012 ruined his Olympic ambitions and he will compete in the SPAR Great Ireland Run, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, in Dublin on 14 April.

Race organisers announced on Tuesday (26) that Jeilan will face Australia’s Collis Birmingham, who finished in an excellent eighth place at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships on Sunday, his country’s best result in the senior men’s race since 1992.

Other top names on the start line in Dublin’s famous Phoenix Park include: Morocco’s Abderrahim Bouramdane, who finished fourth in the 2011 World Championships Marathon and Ukraine’s nine-time European cross country champion Sergiy Lebid.

The home challenge in the men’s race will be led by Mark Kenneall y, Ireland’s top marathon runner last year and a 2012 Olympian, and Paul Robinson, who was the fastest Irish 1500m runner in 2012.

After her impressive run on Sunday in the World Cross Country Championships in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz, where she was the first European home in 14th place, Ireland’s Fionnuala focus of attention turns to the road and she will be the top women’s name in the Great Ireland Run, which will be staged in Dublin’s famous Phoenix Park.

Britton’s team mates from Poland: Linda Byrne, Ava Hutchinson and Lizzie Lee will join her on the start line where they will face Spain’s Diana Martin and a very strong British challenge led by defending Great Ireland Run champion Gemma Steel.

Other top British names in the women’s race include: London 2012 Olympic Games 5000m and 10000 metre finalist Julia Bleasdale and 2011 Great Ireland Run champion Charlotte Purdue.
