Tigist Tufa will return to the scene of her greatest triumph when she lines up to defend her Virgin Money London Marathon title on Sunday 24 April, organisers of the IAAF Gold Label Road Race announced on Tuesday (12).

London Marathon champion Tigist Tufa will face European cross-country champion Gemma Steel at the Morrisons Great North Run, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, on Sunday 13 September.

Eliud Kipchoge won a thrilling battle with his fellow Kenyan Wilson Kipsang over the final kilometres of the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon but prevailed to win the IAAF Gold Label Road Race by five seconds in 2:04:42 on Sunday (26).

The Zurich Maraton de Sevilla, once again an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race, will take place on Sunday (22) boasting one of the flattest circuits worldwide, with barely 10 metres of difference in altitude between the highest and lowest points.

Stephen Mokoka and Tigist Tufa fulfilled predictions and took down the course records at the 19th Shanghai International Marathon, the pair running 2:08:43 and 2:21:52 respectively at the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (2).

Strong line-ups in both fields for the 19th Shanghai International Marathon means that the course records could be in jeopardy at the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (2).

Despite much of the course blanketed in an early morning fog, the 2014 Scotiabank Ottawa marathon, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, saw Ethiopia’s Yemane Tsegay and Tigist Tufa produce course records on Sunday (25).
