If Girmay Birhanu and Meselech Melkamu live up to their status as favourites at the Daegu International Marathon on Sunday (5), it will be the third time that Ethiopians have won both races at the IAAF Silver Label Road Race.

Stephen Mokoka and Tigist Tufa fulfilled predictions and took down the course records at the 19th Shanghai International Marathon, the pair running 2:08:43 and 2:21:52 respectively at the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (2).

Ethiopia’s Yacob Jarso, who was fourth over the barriers in the 2008 Olympic Games 3000m steeplechase, won the Seoul International Marathon in huge personal best of 2:06:17 on Sunday (16).

South Africa’s Stephen Mokoka and Ethiopia’s Aberu Kebede gave the course records a scare at the 14th edition of the Shanghai International Marathon but ultimately both marks, set 12 months ago, remained unbeaten at the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (1).
