Five-time champion Imane Merga will return to Atapuerca, Spain, for the 13th 'Cross Internacional de Atapuerca', the first of three Spanish races scheduled for the 2016-17 IAAF Cross Country Permit series which will kick off this Sunday (13).
Ethiopia’s Imane Merga, a five-time winner of the Cross de Atapuerca, will return to the IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting in Burgos on 13 November in pursuit of a record sixth successive victory.
World cross-country silver medallist Bedan Karoki defeated an impressive field to win the senior men’s 10km at the Discovery Cross Country Championships in Eldoret, Kenya, on Sunday (31).

Imane Merga has won the men’s race at the Cross de Atapuerca for the past four years and will be competing at the IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting in Burgos for a fifth time on 15 November.
The 11th ‘Cross Internacional de Atapuerca’ marked the opening leg of this winter’s IAAF Cross Country Permit series which will reach the pinnacle with the IAAF World Cross Country Championships next March and saw victories from the Ethiopian duo Imane Merga and Belaynesh Oljira on Sunday (16).
Organisers of the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon have made some small changes to the course, making it flatter and faster. It means the high-quality elite fields will head to the Portuguese capital for the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (16) with high hopes of producing lifetime bests.
