Kenyan runners have not dominated the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon in quite the same way that they have other international races over this distance, but with Leonard Komon and Sammy Kitwara on the start line, they look set to feature prominently in this year’s edition of the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (20).

Eritrea’s Goitom Kifle and Bahrain’s Eunice Kirwa were victorious at the Kagawa Marugame International Half Marathon, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, on Sunday (7).

Four-time champion Imane Merga will return to Atapuerca, near the Spanish city of Burgos, for the 12th “Cross Internacional de Atapuerca”, the first of three Spanish races scheduled for this winter’s IAAF Cross Country Permit series which will get under way this Sunday (15).

Galen Rupp has already set two national records this year, and with good conditions his own US 10,000m best of 26:48.00 could be in jeopardy at the Prefontaine Classic, the third of the 2014 IAAF Diamond League meetings, on Friday night (30).

Kenya’s Wilson Kiprop took two seconds off the course record when he clocked 1:00:18 at the Rock’n’Roll Vodafone Half Marathon of Portugal, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, in Lisbon on Sunday (6).
