Sisay Lemma won the 32nd Vienna City Marathon in 2:07:31 in windy and relatively warm weather conditions at the IAAF Gold Label Road Race on Sunday (12).
All the predictions of who would win the 24th edition of the Nordea Riga Marathon had pointed to a Kenyan runner winning in the Latvian capital for the fourth year in succession but Japan’s Yu Chiba had not been listening to the pundits and triumphed at the IAAF Bronze Label Road Race in a course record of 2:13:44 on Sunday (18).
Kenya’s Duncan Koech will be bidding to retain his Nordea Riga Marathon title and will start as favourite not only to break the tape but also set a course record in the Latvian capital at the IAAF Bronze Label Road Race on Sunday (18).
Organisers of the RheinEnergie Marathon 2013 in the German city of Cologne, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, have recruited three top-class Kenyan runners to attack the year-old course record of 2:07:37 at the 17th edition of the race on Sunday (13).
Kenya’s Duncan Koech didn’t need to be at his best to fulfil his role as race favourite and at the Nordea Riga Marathon, in fact his winning time of 2:15:35 was only the ninth best run out of the 14 marathons he’s completed but it was sufficient to take the honours at the IAAF Bronze Label Road Race on Sunday (19).
The course record is the goal in the men’s race of the 11th METRO GROUP Marathon Dusseldorf on Sunday, and the favourites to do it at the IAAF Bronze Label Road Race are the Kenyan pair of Paul Biwott and Duncan Koech.
