Once again, the closing event of the IAAF World Championships, the men’s 4x400m relay, did not disappoint as this time around it produced a battle that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the very last few seconds.
Long jumper-cum-sprinter Tianna Bartoletta produced the best performance on the third day of the US Championships in Eugene on Saturday (27), flying out to a world-leading 7.12m.
Despite a raucous and enthusiastic home crowd raising the rafters for The Bahamas in what was their best chance of getting a gold medal on home soil, for the second year running the USA denied the hosts a fairy tale end to the competition.
This is the event the home crowd will be waiting for, and brings possibly The Bahamas’ one realistic chance of victory.
