The IAAF World Cross Country Championships, Guiyang 2015 pre-event press conference took place at the Guiyang Olympic Stadium, China, with four of the expected leading participants in the senior races facing the media on Friday (27).

After helping the USA to their first team medal since 2001 at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships two years ago, Chris Derrick hopes those championships marked, “an upswing, rather than a peak” of his country’s current purple patch at cross country.

Having dominated their races at the National Cross Country Championships last month, Chris Derrick and Laura Thweatt are among the USA’s best hopes at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, Guiyang 2015 on 28 March.

Chris Derrick became the first runner since eventual eight-time champion Pat Porter to win three titles in successive years at the USATF Cross Country Championships on the Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday (7).

US runners Garrett Heath and Chris Derrick repeated their success of 12 months ago when they ran out as winners again at the Great Edinburgh XCountry, an IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting, on Saturday (10).

Edinburgh has been one of the finest stages in the world for cross country running and this should be no different when the Great Edinburgh XCountry event, an IAAF Cross Country Permit Meeting, takes place on Saturday (10).

Chris Derrick, the winner of the international team race at the 2014 Great Edinburgh XCountry, will return to the IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting on 10 January to defend his title and lead the US team.

It was a day for the USA at Holyrood Park on Saturday (11) as Garrett Heath upset African stars Asbel Kiprop and Kenenisa Bekele in the invitational 4km race at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country, an IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting.
