Genzebe Dibaba ran the sixth-fastest 1500m performance in history to highlight the Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland, on Friday (10), the penultimate stop on the five-meeting IAAF World Indoor Tour.

It was the start that ended it. In the women’s 60m final on Saturday night, Barbara Pierre of the United States made the most of an explosive exit from the blocks to propel her to victory in 7.02 ahead of Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands (7.04) and Elaine Thompson of Jamaica (7.08).

US champion Barbara Pierre had a flawless start to her 60m campaign, rocketing from the blocks in the final heat and powering down the track to win in 7.07, the fastest of all qualifiers.

Teenage star Vashti Cunningham came of age in style by smashing the world junior indoor high jump record on the second day of the US Championships in Portland on Saturday (12), the 18-year-old soaring over 1.99m to establish a world-leading mark.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Lalonde Gordon and Mikel Thomas, as well as American hurdler Lolo Jones, provided the highlights of the second day of the NACAC Senior Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica, but the USA continued its dominance by taking 10 of the 13 finals contested on Saturday (8).

Spain’s Eusebio Caceres and USA’s Barbara Pierre were crowned as ‘best performers’ at the Meeting de Madrid, an IAAF World Challenge Meeting on Saturday (19).

The USA holds the world record of 40.82 in this event, set in London at the 2012 Olympics, but the clear favourites in Nassau will be world champions Jamaica.

Jamaica's Nesta Carter provided the highlight of the 'Meeting de Madrid 2013', an IAAF World Challenge Meeting, on Saturday (13) with an outstanding 9.87 run performance in the men's 100m on Saturday (13).

Ryan Whiting extended his world-leading mark in the Shot on the final day of the USA Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Centre on Sunday (March 3).
