The summer track season might now be in full bloom but a head-to-head between the 5000m and 10,000m World record holder Kenenisa Bekele and World marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang keeps some of the spotlight on the roads at the Bupa Great Manchester Run, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, on Sunday (18).
Morocco’s Mohamed Moustaoui, running in the colours of French club Ales Cevennes Athletisme, provided the big surprise at the Algarve Almond Blossom Cross Country on Sunday (2), with the IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting this year incorporating the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country.
Kenya’s Leonard Komon and Linet Masai fulfilled their roles as favourites for the 49th edition of Madrid’s San Silvestre Vallecana, an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, with impressive wins over the 10km course on Tuesday (31).

Kenya’s 2013 Berlin Marathon winner Florence Kiplagat will make her competitive debut over 10 Miles at the BUPA Great South Run, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, in the British city of Portsmouth on Sunday (27).
The Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country, an IAAF Cross Country Permit Meeting, will have two main focal points on Saturday (5). The first is the now traditional annual international match between Great Britain, Europe and the USA; the second is a classy women’s 3km race which features Ethiopia’s reigning Olympic 5000m champion Meseret Defar.
Fionnuala Britton and Ayad Lamdassem will defend their individual titles in the annual international match between Britain, Team Europe and the United States in the New Year at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country, an IAAF Cross Country Permit meeting.
7 December 2012 – Budapest, Hungary – Hungary stages the SPAR European Cross Country Championships for the first time with the venue being the town of Szentendre, which is on the banks of the Danube just north of the Hungarian capital. Belgium’s Atelaw Bekele and Ireland’s Fionnuala Britton will both return to defend the titles they won in 2011 on Sunday (9).
