Five sub-2:05 men and eight sub-2:25 women ready to roll in the Dutch capital
Organisers of the N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon have announced the most remarkable line-up in the history of this World Athletics Elite Label road race, to be held on 4 April.
For the first time in the 28-year history of this event, a Ugandan athlete stood proud atop the podium, but it wasn’t the one most expected. In the men’s race at the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships Gdynia 2020 on Saturday (17), it was Jacob Kiplimo and not Joshua Cheptegei who reigned supreme, the 19-year-old coming of age with his first global title at senior level.
Ethiopia’s Amdework Walelegn stormed to a Turkish all-comers record on Sunday (8) at the Vodafone Istanbul Half Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label road race, clocking a personal best of 59:50 in his second appearance over the distance.
