Jonathan Muia NDIKU (KEN)GOLD MEDAL - 8:23.48

The race was very, very great. I’m so happy to win this race.

I was wanting my teammate to come in front of me because I was needing some help.

Last time, I won in Bydgoszcz in 2008. I did well because I defended my title.

This race is our culture. It’s a Kenyan race.

Albert Kiptoo YATOR (KEN) - SILVER MEDAL - 8:33.55 (PB)

The race was okay, I could have done better.

It’s a great day for us (NDIKU) coming in first and (me) second.  It was a great day for Kenyans.

Jacob ARAPTANY (UGA) - BRONZE MEDAL - 8:37.02

I was aiming for the gold, but all of my body was not well. I would have struggled to get the gold medal.

They were running away from me, they were seeing me with the Ethiopian.

I feel that the race was okay. I was mentally pushed, although I didn’t get the result, but I have done something. I was struggling a little.

No, it was not my tactic. For me, I have an injury that I got when training in Uganda. So although I could run with the leaders, I had an injury.

I’m very happy, of course. I’m not like some who have gone without.

I was faster in the heats, I made about 8:28, so I think maybe because of the weather, maybe that brought my time down.
