Women Medley Relay Final

FacebookTwitterEmail

Jamaican and American high schools have a great tradition of relay running, so it was fitting that teams from both nations should offer a thrilling finale to the Championships by taking first and second place in the women’s medley relay.

The medley consists of legs of 100, 200, 300 and 400 metres, and with the Americans able to start with individual 100m champion Jessica Onyepunuka and finish off with the flying Natasha Hastings, the 400m champion, it was little surprise, perhaps, that the United States should run out comfortable winners in 2:03.86, outgunning the Jamaicans, who held off Russia for the silver, 2:07.05 to 2:07.52.
