Men Javelin Throw Final

Tradition prevailed in the men’s javelin throw, with specialists Finland taking two out of three places on the podium

It was with his second throw that Teemu Wirkkala assured himself of the gold medal with a superb personal best of 76.18 metres. But Wirkkala was not the only one to surpass himself this afternoon under the beating sun of Debrecen. For Khalifa it was 73.56 metres at his third attempt and for Järvenpää 67.90 at his fifth the second of the Finn’s only two good throws of the competition
