In the final sprint of the day, the two half lap sprints gave the USA some consolation for their defeat by Trinidad's Darrell Brown in the 100 metres on Friday.

With the women's race comfortable out of the way and a second sprint medal for the American women, it was up to the men to show what they could do. Of course, their task was made a little easier with Darrell Brown sidelined folowing a muscle pull in the qualifiers and the USA took full advantage of that to run a one two in the medals.

Jonathan Wade who had to settle for bronze in Friday's race made up for lost time today, setting a personal best 20.95 (-1.1 m/s) to take gold ahead of his compatriot Michael Grant (21.30). Trinidad took bronze this time, with Dion Rodriguez running 21.36. Wade was quick out of the blocks and as they came out of the curve was already a clear leader, a lead he would retain to the line.
