TRAFFIC INFORMATION AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Here you will find traffic information and details of parking restrictions in connection with the World Championships in the half marathon, 5 km and one mile.

 

 

When the world’s best athletes and thousands of runners of all ages take to the streets of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, traffic restrictions will be in place across large parts of the city, along with parking restrictions on the courses.

 

Parking will be prohibited along the courses in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg in the days leading up to and on the race days. Please pay attention to temporary signage in the streets. Vehicles that have not been moved will be removed at the owner’s expense at the times specified below:

 

Friday 18 September:

  • Parking will be prohibited along the one mile and 5 km courses from 16:00 on Friday until 17:00 on Sunday.

 

Saturday 19 September:

  • The one mile course will be closed to traffic from 07:00 to 19:30.
  • The 5 km course will be closed to traffic from 12:00 to 19:30.
  • Parking will be prohibited along the half marathon course from 12:00 on Saturday until 17:00 on Sunday. In Frederiksberg, the restriction will apply only from 18:00 on Saturday until 15:00 on Sunday.

 

Sunday 20 September:

  • The half marathon course will be closed to traffic from 06:00 to 17:00. In Frederiksberg, the closure will apply only from 06:00 to 15:00.

 

There will also be extended road closure periods around the start and finish areas and at Forum – see below.

 

Crossing the courses

During the races, pedestrians will be able to cross the course when there are gaps between runners. Vehicles will be able to cross the course at designated crossing points.

Extended road closure periods around the start and finish areas:

  • The finish area on Øster Allé (between P.H. Lings Allé and Edel Sauntes Allé) will be closed to traffic from 06:00 on Thursday 17 September until 22:00 on Sunday 20 September.
  • The start areas on Jagtvej (between Vibenshus Runddel and Østerbrogade) and Østerbrogade (between Jagtvej and Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads) will be closed to traffic from 06:00 on Friday 18 September until 17:00 on Sunday 20 September.
  • Parking restrictions along the courses: One mile and 5 km: Parking will be prohibited from 16:00 on Friday 18 September until 17:00 on Sunday 20 September.
  • Half marathon: Parking will be prohibited from 12:00 on Saturday 19 September until 17:00 on Sunday 20 September. In Frederiksberg, the restriction will apply only from 18:00 on Saturday until 15:00 on Sunday.

 

Extended parking restrictions around the start, finish and Expo:

  • Expo at Forum – Julius Thomsens Plads, Frederiksberg: Parking will be prohibited from 08:00 on Tuesday 15 September until 22:00 on Saturday 19 September.
  • Finish area – Øster Allé Lokalbane: Parking will be prohibited from 06:00 on Monday 14 September until 22:00 on Sunday 20 September.
  • Finish area – Øster Allé (between P.H. Lings Allé and Edel Sauntes Allé): Parking will be prohibited from 06:00 on Thursday 17 September until 22:00 on Sunday 20 September.
  • Start areas – Jagtvej (between Vibenshus Runddel and Østerbrogade) and Østerbrogade (between Jagtvej and Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads): Parking will be prohibited from 06:00 on Friday 18 September until 17:00 on Sunday 20 September.
